The hockey gods have blessed us with Elias, it’s actually crazy how similar he is to William Karlsson, crazy thing is he’s younger and scored more points than Karlsson did before he had his big year last season. Couldn’t be happier with the trade, what a contract Lindholms could turn out to be. Could be amazing value

It isn't a 'sort of goal' when you shoot wide. It's just a shot wide.
(Unless it's the Leafs and they have no better way to colour the game).

Yep. You wish he was in the last year of that deal but no doubt he will play a lot this year.

I can’t believe that there hasn’t been a call for a royal commission about a hole in the flames net.

The refs can’t pretend they blew it down because it was on the net, no matter how late their whistle, because then they can’t explain why the face off was at center ice.

Yeah of course, if it fits awkwardly let me know and I can crop it to try and make it work.

100%. It’s the same thing with Hartley and Sutter. Players don’t need friends, they need a coach who will hold them accountable, kick them in the ass when needed, and utilize their skills correctly to bring the best out of them. I don’t want my team to love their coach, I want them to respect the hell out of him.

We seemed to be in pockets. A very solid representation. It helped that the Flames kept Leafs fans quiet for most of the game!

Let’s enjoy the win. Best first period Flames have played this year that I can think of. Leafs may have had 8 high danger chances but a whole bunch came after it was 2 to zero.

25 years of history is irrelevant though when analyzing a team. Don’t get me wrong I understand what the history means to the feelings of a life long fan, but completely irrelevant when judging any individual version of a team. The patterns, or habits of the 1993 Calgary Flames and any version of Flames since then up until at most 4 years ago is as relevant to this years version of the Flames as the 85 Edmonton Oilers are. Meaning there is actually 0 relevance. You can’t use past performance of a Flames team that far back to predict future performance of this team or can’t be used as a until you prove me otherwise argument. Nothing that dictates on ice results of the club is the same, the GM, the coaches and the players....all different.
So I’m all for fans wallowingin the defeat of the history of the club should they chose to do so, but it’s not acceptable as a data point to back up why there negative over reactions about this years club are more justified than someone’s positive overreactions.

Might just be me but I love the refs eye cam! Gimmick or not, I bought it like a bass in Bass Pro Shop - hook, line, and sinker.

Leafs PGT is interesting and I learned a lot. The refs were biased, but in favour of the Flames. Babcock is a terrible coach who can't get his team ready, can't adjust in game, coaches boring and uncreative hockey and overplays underfperforming vets.

A small sample size but Those are unreal numbers and it’s not like they are getting force fed offensive zone starts or playing exclusively with the Backlund line (20 minutes with Backlund so about a third of total ice time).
If they can keep anything close to that performance up, and if Brodie/Gio can play like they did tonight more frequently then this team will be set for our top 4 for sure.

They looked like that from Game 1 in china.
It was clear to me they would be a natural pairing as not only do they mesh well together, their styles and roles compliment one another.
Going to be a good pairing for a few years.

Very happy with that game. The Flames carried the play for the majority of the game and didn’t lose composure even in the face of poor officiating. The better team won for sure!

The officials should be held to a higher regard and fined for improper officiating. It's a professional sport, and should be treated as such, especially with a monetary obligation for viewers.

Imagine what Peters would be saying if the Leafs came back to tie or win after that botched Leafs non-goal that should have led to an empty netter to seal the deal. Would have been interesting to say the least.

How great is it that the Flames have developed two rookies playing well enough that they can both force their way into the lineup?!?!
Stone isn't sitting because he's objectively horrible, it's because the Flames D are so deep that he's sat that far down the depth chart for the last couple of games. Frankly, that's something to celebrate, IMO.
