Rychel definitely hasn't lived up to expectations. But he still has all the tools needed to be an effective bottom-six NHLer. Shinkaruk on the other hand is top-six or bust.
But skating isn’t his strong suit (nor is it really a weakness). It just isn’t how he plays the game effectively. He gets in front of the net and battles and tips pucks. And he isn’t afraid to drop the mitts.

That's what makes this a great trade for the Flames. Shinkaruk was at the end of the road and Treliving turned him into something that may pay dividends down the road.
