It wasn't. In his sign-off, he mentioned talking about his decision to leave the station with Kelly Kirsch two weeks prior. I'm sure the station gave him the choice between a big two-week long ego-stroking send-off or just a quiet "this is my last show" ending and he chose to do it this way.

I always liked Rob, and I wish him nothing but the best.

No it didn’t. Listen to the sign off.

I’ll give this a third as well. Pinder has paid his dues & is great solo. I like him in the morning, but the dynamic between him & Dean & Rhett is getting tired. Some fresh faces would be nice, maybe Sarich or Commodore?

I'm not sure if there's any real Flames pod. I find the morning show gives me my fill of Flames content. I may still tune in to the afternoon show for a bit, but I tend to broaden my scope for podcasts to get a better or more interesting product even though it may not be as Flames-centric.

Never heard of the last three. Any good? Espn is light on hockey knowledge now. But pick soup and full 60?

Full 60 is Custance's over at the Athletic. Really fun conversations with beat reporters.

How do you have time? I mostly listen to 960 when I'm driving. That's about all the time I have, sadly.

I feel like Pinder is better as a 2nd/3rd fiddle than the host. When Boomer is out, he is just overwhelming as a host.

Yeah but there's a difference between morning fun time and more sports info/discussion stuff in the pm drive. Maybe he's a better fit there.

I would actually really enjoy Pinder moving to the PM as the Pinder show would be a much better fit on the drive home. More time would also allow him to expand on some sports like tennis, golf, MLB and basketball that always seem to be cut short by Boomer's need to talk about greasy food or naps.
I'm not sure Sternberg could handle Pinder effectively though. Pat doesn't seem to do well with people who don't allow him carry the load. No offense to Sternberg, but Pinder would walk all over him. Maybe Pat could have his own segment in the AM to dive deeper into Flames, MMA and some increased NFL/CFL coverage.
The entire program has become stale. Needs an overhaul imo. You can only listen to the same schtick for so long.

I hope they don't bring Pinder in for the afternoon show, but its for completely selfish reasons as I think the morning show has a great thing going right now with the trio they have with Boomer, Pinder and Warrener (and Jay chiming in now and then too). A good balance of personalities there.
It's a different show without boomer, I will give you that. I agree that Pinder is a different personality without boomer in, he tends to be more serious, but I think that's more of Boomer being able to bring that humour/lightness out of people. boomer even brought that out of Rob Kerr when Kerr would be on the show and he tended to be deadpan serious in the afternoon show.
As for Pinder, I think he would be great as a show host if it plays to his strengths and not tried to be Boomer. He's pretty knowledgeable and I like that he's pretty confident in his opinions.
