Some of you are just out to lunch looking for another thing to whine about.

Out of thanks. But yes, this exactly. Thank you!

As for someone calling it a 'Staged fight' - that isn't a staged fight. That is Glass sending the Oilers and all the other teams in the NHL that you can't do that to a Calgary goalie and not expect to have to answer the bell. Feel really bad for Glass there, and I hope he is alright. I have to give him an ovation there for doing his job. Gulutzan missed the ball on that one I think, and tonight Glass paid the price for it.

Flames played a pretty decent game tonight. Backlund was back tonight - he really keeps McDavid in check, and the rest of the team did a good job the rest of the time. I didn't like to see Bartkowski on the PK (or Brouwer on the PP!!), but he did alright.

Don't agree with Kypreos - there was a scrum and a few Flames were trying to get at Lucic after that altercation. Smith was the guy on the team that wasn't going to let Lucic continue. Lucic started running around a few shifts before that and didn't stop, finally slashing Giordano. Smith took it upon himself to do something about it, and it was good to see (though I didn't enjoy seeing Lucic swinging at Smith). I thought the team rallied from that a bit.

I think it sucks, but for as long as that idiot Lucic is in Edmonton, Calgary has to have some type of a player that can nullify his stupid shenanigans. He has a history of going off and doing stupid things, and you don't want to enter a BoA scared of what may happen. For those that don't remember, things were pretty damn grim until a guy called Tim Hunter came up and started taking care of guys like Semenko, McSorely and Brown. Fortunes changed for the Flames after that. Different era, but all you have to see is Lucic's antics in the past (i.e. against Buffalo in which he basically exposed that team for being spineless, and everything just kind of went off the rails for them after that). Some people just think you turn the other cheek and take the power play, but sometimes things get out of hand and you just need a response.

Either way, fun game to watch, and the good guys won again. I hope this is the start of a LONG win streak against that embarrassing organization that can't stop congratulating itself for accomplishments made 30 years ago....

Here is the Oilers' organization every 10 minutes:

They might as well hire Barry Horowitz to their management team - he knows a thing or two about patting yourself in the back if there was any doubt.
I think Ron Hextall would be proud of our Smitty tonight!

What a brutal take on your part. Gio was ten feet away hunched over in pain. When he realized what was happening, he rushed back and by the time he got there there were several bodies (including two officials) and a net between them. So he grabbed a man and hung on keeping them from teaming up.

Just an awful account trying to pin an uncaring attitude on Gio in that sequence.

Maybe he should have turned around and responded when he got slashed.
He and Mike Smith could have handled Lucic together instead of the goalie taking 3 in the face for defending his Captain. There should have been a quicker response from the other Flames players on the ice as well. They should all have been aware of Lucic as he had already taken runs at 2 of the Flames players before that. There needs to be more of a group mentality when it comes to dealing with guys like Lucic and it should happen immediately.

Watched the first 2 periods with my buddy. He stopped watching hockey after the lockout (1st one). He hates the greasers more than any Flames fan (you would too if you lived in greaserville and had to put up with the fan bs).
He really enjoyed the jump the Flames had at the start of the game.
Good night seeing the good guys take it to McJesus and the fools.

Yea that wincing and tripping forward was obviously indifference, and not pain and a lack of balance on one foot.

Just keep it up, this take is getting less and less brutal the more you elaborate.

So glad to beat the Oil, regardless of what else is going on.

Chris Stewart should have been dressed for this game. It really irks me to see that idiot Lucic running around with no repercussions.

I was thinking the same thing . Licic vs. Stewart would have been a different beast.

“I don’t think I’m a soft player,” Stewart told media on Wednesday. “You can ask (Brandon) Prust, you can ask (Milan) Lucic how soft I am.

Cam Talbot, from hero to zero.

Even with McDiver the Oilers don't make the playoffs last season without him.

The problem with Stewart I see his defence - he floats back and really has no clue in his own end. What offence he puts up is really no compensation. As for toughness, I've seen the clips, but nothing from hiim while on the Flames. I said it a couple games ago - I don't want joking, jovial Stewart. I'd like to see cranky mean Stewart.

I don't think Smith was calling out his teammates. I think he knows Tanner Glass is at the end of his career and was giving him nice words.

"Sadness Bowl" is a painfully apt description. Who would have thought that before the season?

always good to beat them though, especially twice in a row after so many losses against them. Long may it continue.

Haha. The last thing any team concerns itself with is Lucic - unless it's how to better exploit him. Wow.
The Flames need answers for a lot of other things, but not for Milan Lucic.

I can't find it, but I seem to recall a poster a few weeks ago saying something to the effect - if we only win two more games the rest of the season, they'd be fine so long as those wins were the two against the Oilers.
Having gone 2-7 since then, seems a little spooky. I hope they are fine with it.

I liked how once again McJesus was pointing up to the video review when the Flames when down the ice and scored a goal! Do you get the impression McJesus isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer? (Or maybe he likes seeing himself on the big screen, like Trudeau and his selfies).

Hence their predicament. Their roster is not very good outside of a couple of players and they need a goaltender standing on his head to win games over an 82 game season. If Talbot doesn't rebound next season it's hard to imagine that team being better.

And if he does rebound he’s then going to cash in as a pending ufa
No win situation for the oil

Both Stone and Brouwer came in pretty light and had an opportunity to fight Lucic, gloves should have been off.

so i missed a bit of last night's game becuz my aunt and uncle were in town

i noticed that Bennett had shaved his beard... so i'm curious if there was any special segment or interview with him about it? the reason i ask is becuz earlier this past week mcmuffin shaved and it was worthy of a segment during an oilers game and they even asked him about it in a post game interview.

Except they weren’t harsh words for his team.

He was just pointing out that he’s got sympathy for Glass having a rough year and the thanks he gets is having his face pounded by Lucic. It had nothing to do with insulting his teammates.

Brouwer who is wearing a cage? Brouwer recovering from a facial fracture? That Brouwer? Oh yeah, good call.
