In this bleakest of seasons, it's testament to Gio how, just before he kerfuffle, he stopped a certain goal by busting his ass and making a desperation play. Then he goes and let's Kane know you can't bump our goalie. Great captain.

Starting to wonder if breaking the Anaheim curse using Jobu we unlocked something we shouldn't have. Just no puck luck this year. Hopefully the debt is paid for next year.

Depends on whether you're trying to make your D faster and more mobile, able to quickly clear the zone and able to QB the PP, or if you want continue to try more of the same formula that failed this year.
Sure, I would prefer to trade Stone, but he won't get the return you need. Hamonic, with his R shot and (for a second pairing D) team-friendly contract, just might.

Hamonic is probably the second best in the team at making an exit pass. He's obviously not offensive, but that's my point. You can't go all offence when you still have Gio, Brodie, and Hamilton. Hamonic is the only really good defensive defenceman (well, Gio, but that's different).
I also wouldn't be throwing Rasmus into a fourth D position off the bat.

Agreed, Stone would have to move up, but I think he has proven in previous seasons that he can handle that.

Can you make a case for why I'm seeing Shore on the ice this afternoon if he's in fact scratched?

Who has impressed when paired with Bart? I think Stone and Kulak have been passable for the most part. You don't notice them much, but isn't that what you ask from the 3rd pairing?
No question I prefer Hamonic over Stone. But you won't get what you need for Stone, his trade value is somewhat lower IMO.

For the fight, I couldn't see, but I thought the refs had to immediately step in if the helmets were purposely taken off.

Good fight. Classy by hamonic to ask Kane if his head hit the ice. Hopefully Kane remembers when flames sign him this offseason

Bart? Why are you bringing him up? I'm talking about his normal play, with Kulak. I think Kulak has outplayed him, and Stone is pretty horrible with the puck. He's also not good along the boards, for a guy who should be.

You are correct, as per YahooSports:
Quote:
The NHL’s general managers agreed to, and the Board of Governors approved, a new rule that levies a two-minute minor penalty on any player that removes his helmet before a fight. That’s seven minutes in the box, barring any additional penalties: two for unsportsmanlike conduct and five for fighting

If all the ridiculous bad luck is going to come back just let it be against the Oilers in a double digit hammering.

That was Kane’s first shift of the third. And first shift since getting out of the box. Hamonic and the Flames stepping up immediately. Good to see.
