They couldn't complete a pass to start the game. That's got nothing to do with Smith

He played 2 good games against crappy teams after playing some pretty crappy games before that. I agree with letting Smith battle through this. We need him down the stretch and can't lean hsrd on Rittich.

If this was a game against a team we're chasing in the standings maybe I'd agree

The team spends all that money on professional scouting but the team never looks like they have been briefed. Is it on the players to distill that data themselves and build the game plan themselves? Nope. That is the job of the coach. Just like its up to the coach to set the lines and make in game adjustments.
So he’s among the best at preparing them on the road but not at home?

Consistent as heck so far in both places.

Maybe let’s look at individual player mental preparation with pursuant focus and work ethic that correlates to wins and losses.

I like Stone shooting on the PP. His slapper is an asset that never gets used

They went away from the bump back. People complain about it but it works.

Playoff game style checklist:
Good start - uncheck

Chris Gibson. Something like his third start of the year and 7th career.

Honestly, even if the Flames lose this one and the Edmonton game, I've come to terms with it as long as Smith can get back into the swing of things.
No way do I agree losing a BOA game to get Smith up to speed. We need to do whatever it takes for points now. Put our best players on the ice right now.
