I HATE the idea of giving up assets for yet another goalie.

If the team truly is good enough to do any damage, then they can scrape out enough wins in front of Gillies and Rittich. If you ride the hot hand, you should be able to get .910 out of them. Doesn't hurt to be forced to get your overall team game to a place where you're not leaning on your goalie each night heading into playoffs. Having Smith come back in right away or bringing in net help will signal to certain guys that they can become complacent again and fall back on getting bailed out.

If we happen to miss out on the top 8 then we can look forward to a new coaching staff and recoup our 2019/2020 2nds.

Just not sure why the Hawks would want to trade Hartman? he should be one of their core young pieces?

He's not a high end piece, but he is a good piece. I wonder what the return will look like - and I wouldn't be shocked to see it being a couple 2nds or a 1st or something significant like that.

Hartman has spent over half of his ice time with Patrick Kane, and last year he saw similar times with Hossa and Toews.

I'm not saying he's not good - but he is a young player who was set up for success with linemates. Much different situation than Bennett has seen here.
