I just don't get why the wild card spots are reserved for the central teams.
Calgary's first half left a lot to be desired and they are one point behind Minny with a game in hand and one point behind the Avs right now.
Hawks are almost out of it

I think your fingers were crossed for the most part. The Avs, Kings, and Oilers all lost in reg time! The Predators and Sharks lost in OT, so only 1 point each. The 4 bummers had the Stars, Knights, and Ducks winning in reg time and the Jets OT win instead of SO win.

Corral, the Predators are in a battle with the Blues and Jets in their division with the Stars not that far behind. The Flames could be playing one of those teams instead in round 1. Dino7c, the wildcard spots are for the teams with the best records in the conference that are not in the top 3 of their respective divisions.

Joe Thornton left that game last night late with what could possibly be a serious leg injury. Believe it or not at 38 he's their 2nd leading scorer and top forward. Would be a huge blow to the Sharks if he's gone for a long period of time.
