Their puck support is light-years ahead of where it was a few weeks ago. Too often two guys would go in on the puck in the o-zone and the third guy would be "somewhere" wandering around. Now, more often than not, the third man is close by, available for the loose puck or a pass. Not sure why that is happening when it wasn't before - but it is a notable change.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Gio get a game or two based on the result, but it annoys me that some people think Aho is a victim. Toe dragging in the slot when you know there’s a defender there is an incredibly arrogant, stupid move in my opinion. There has to be some accountability for Aho. The NHL isn’t a beer league. You can’t expect to pull off plays like that.

Big credit to these two for rounding into form. The amount of ire for these two was off the charts from some people.
Hamonic gets a pass for the slow start having switched teams. Now that they've had some time, he and Brodie have been super solid as of late. Really glad to see the patience paid off.

Gio stops right at the hash mark, plants his right skate and really doesn't move from there. All he has done is stood there like a pylon, essentially saying "go around me or go through me". Aho chose the latter and Gio finished his check with his shoulder into Aho's chest. He might have clipped his head, but it certainly wasn't the principal point of contact at all. Can't see a suspension coming out of this (yah - there's the Bettman and Wideman factors, but....).

You know things are going great for the Flames when one of the only things to complain about is Cassie Campbell's colour commentary.

Hamonic has been steadily getting better all year, and was absolutely fantastic today. Maybe his best game of the year defensively.
Brodie has also settled his defensive game substantially. He was taking far too many risks earlier, but has cleaned that up.
As the pairing gets more and more solid defensively, then Brodie can start jumping into the offense more again.

Bill Peters is a really good hockey coach. He could have really milked this like some other coaches.

I don't mind Campbell. Good Calgarian, has good knowledge of the game and has good things to say during broadcasts. She wasn't born a broadcaster and is a little unpolished but she's improving.

If Tkachuk gets a suspension for a tap on the skates then Gio will get a phantom suspension.

Oh I don't mind her either. I was just making the observation that her colour commentary was one of the few things there was for others to complain about.

You know we're playing well when we just complain about the colour commentator in the PDT.

Yup. Much better having the boys going into the break on a very high note feeling good about themselves. I think they will be ready to pick things up where they left off v Jets next Saturday. The first period of that game will be key.

Gio will get a suspension. As much as I think Aho needs to protect himself in that situation, Gio made contact with the head, and the league wants to get rid of that. I think Gio made a mistake trying to hit with his left shoulder when he could have used his right. I don't think Aho would have necessarily been any better off, but I think it would have been easier to argue Gio wasn't head hunting.

Nope.
Arm was tucked and he stood his ground throwing a hockey hit shoulder to chest. Aho was egregiously looking at his skates and as such had his head lowered skating into Gio.
That is just a terrible take on the hit.
The refs weren't even going to call it until they caved to fan pressure.
I'd go so far as to laugh off the possibility of a suspension, but the NHL's absolute inconsistency in these matters is even more laughable so who know where the wheel stops on this one.

Am I the only one who heard Cassie say both teams were playing their 4th game in 3 nights? Glad she does the cc and not NHL schedules!

Don’t agree with this analysis at all. No time to deliberately change the mechanics of the hit. Was purely unintentional. Chest was the target and slight head contact incidental.

Gio wasn't moving. Aho has to look where he's going. The only reason there might be a suspension is because of the new ownership of the Canes. He just paid a lot of money for majority stake of that them. The NHL might want to keep him happy.

Well, there was absolutely NO head hunting going on, so it's pretty easy to argue it from the hit as it was.
