Love this show, 10/10. Only thing that bugs me is how easily everyone is consistently angered / set off by even the tiniest things; sometimes awkwardly forced. I get that it moves the story arc, but if this was real life, almost the entire cast would be in jail for one reason or another given how angry everyone gets and how it always leads to violence or destruction in some way.

Sometimes it's a little awkward, but I feel this is part of the great, self-referential part of the show. How can we solve this easily solvable issue? Words? No. Karate!
It makes me laugh almost every time.

I can agree with that, haha. The show presents karate and violence as just commonplace, just like it was in KK1-3 in the '80s. 'Cancel' culture definitely doesn't seem to have much of a presence in this show!

The show is very self aware. Larusso's wife is constantly breaking the 4th wall by asking why so much trouble and tragedy is occurring over karate tournaments for kids. It's a world where doing dumb karate kicks makes you the ultimate tough guy and you can just instantly knock guys out by striking them on the head.

I think the word you're looking for is "awesome".
I have to say, most of the karate is fun to watch. I actually get excited to see fights between any combination of Robby, Miguel, Hawk, Tory, Park, and Sam. It's when the adults solve their problems with the karate that it feels pretty lame.

I love love love this show, but if it had a shred of realism most of those kids would be suffering from severe injuries, trauma, social services would be knee deep in chaos, multiple charges of assault, battery, mischief, and other crimes would be laid, and lawsuits up the ying-yang.
Glad it's not real life

Or maybe it did, somehow this franchise needs to be married to fight club, and any Nick Cage movies.

I wonder if Martin Kove ever thought that, in 2022, there would be an action figure of him made, cross-promoted with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

As much as I enjoyed Season 4 (I thought the Terry Silver/John Kreese dynamic was a really nice addition) I’m about ready for Daniel LaRusso to get slapped stupid over his Mr. Miyagi fetish.
I’m pretty sure if you were to make a word cloud of LaRusso‘s dialogue in the series it would just say “ Mr. Miyagi thought me…” in 900pt type.

Honestly, the villains are pretty much the best most well developed characters on the show and that's what makes it really intriguing to be.
I mean Torrie is a sympathetic villain. She's absolutely ruthless and combative because she's had a lot of crappy breaks in her life, and everyone on the good side treats her like a one dimensional villain.
Robbie again, abandoned by his dad, lives with a sh%tty mom who abandons him, of course he's looking for a father figure, but at the same time he's going to make horrible decisions. Even his beatdown of Kenny was just a really bad decision.
Kreese, I like the character, a guy who did things for what he believed was the right thing. Teaching kids to survive in a horrible world where people are going to bully them and take advantage of them. In the end we did get a peek that there was a guy with a bit of regret and compassion.
Silver again like Kreese someone with a right idea gone wrong, seduced by money and power and the bonds of a almost cancerous friendship. He goes straight, but gets seduced by all of his wrong choices.
Meanwhile the antagonists are not great people. Sam is a snobby bully. Miguel is a good kid but he just makes bad choices. Eli even when he went over to the good is still a bit of a bully.
In the middle there's Johnny who's not a hero, he's not a villain but he's a guy that's trying to walk a really narrow path to redemption.
In the original movies the characters weren't really characters, there were clear lines of hero's and villains and they didn't develop beyond that.
I can't wait to see what they do with Mike Barnes, I hope they really don't redeem him. I want a guy that literally kills someone in the ring and feels no regret, that has made millions ruthlessly and isn't fighting some redemption arc with Daniel, but is only there to destroy him. I hope he has a son that is a similar type of championship callibre combination of Karate Champion and ######bag. I want to hear Terry looking at Barnes with approval as Barnes tells his son to break Miquel's back.

The issue is that it gets a bit tiring to watch people go nuts over never-ending misunderstandings and everyone having their back up constantly. There’s an expiry date on this thing and I think it’s approaching.

I'd say Season 5 is about as much as they can get out it. I hope they don't go dragging it out into a bad series.
Just continue on with the same cast into a Power Rangers crossover.

Honestly, I'm not tired of any of it yet. I absolutely adore this show. I'd even be ok with bringing in Hilary Swank's character as another ally for the Miyagi kids.
That being said, I do agree that everything has an expiry date. The show is a massive hit, which is obviously why it keeps getting renewed. But I think they could probably wrap it all up with season 5. Once it goes past 5 or 6 seasons, the novelty of a series generally starts to wear off and the writers start to run out of ideas. I hope they have a conclusion in mind for this one, and hopefully they can do it over the next season. Or two at the most.

Yeah for sure it’s definitely started to encroach into “this guy’s super weird” territory / obsession style.

I honestly think they kind of rushed the Johnny vs Daniel part of it early on, and almost immediately had to start throwing old characters in when it could have survived 3 seasons with just them and the kids. Now we’re basically redeeming Kreese, the whole “good character goes to the dark side, dark side character is reformed” loop is getting to where you have to stop doing it. I don’t know, maybe they can take it in a totally different direction somehow but I think they have 1 or 2 more seasons in them at most. I’ll keep watching though, this is just the easiest show to binge pretty much ever.

The show started on YouTube Red . I don't think they had the luxury to plan out a multi season run, and were probably feeling lucky to be able to make one season. They've outlasted their original platform at this point. It's a fun show to not take too seriously, and it is a bit of a feel good story to see these old actors getting to make a bit of a comeback.

How awesome it would have been if Evander Kane was the third rate senior mens player who blamed Larusso for the butt end penalty call.
