It was a pinky! It wasn't his entire damn hand. Stop repeating this.

Brouwer will score at least... 40 points next year. If he doesn't, I keep this avatar forever and I'll buy a Nicklas Grossmann jersey.

Dude, no one cares. So many of your posts are about putting a spotlight on yourself, stop?

Wow, you don't have to be a dick about it. It's a nothing post in a nothing thread in the dead of July. You're right -- no one cares. So why do you?

It seems to me that historically a TheScorpion prediction is more like a kiss of death.
If wish that instead you had predicted that the Oilers will win the cup sometime in your lifetime and that Nenshi will win by a landslide.
And you have one of the best avatars on the forum. The way you got it makes it even better.

FWIW, I did sort of predict the Michael Stone trade a few months before it happened, so there's that.

Brouwer was worse than replacement level this past season, he's also at the stage in his career where most middle six guys start to really slow down. His advanced stats are the real alarm bell here, they were terrible. They were bad before he injured his hand and bad after he injured his hand. This is the biggest worry, from an advanced stats perspective he was one of the worst players in the league.
I'm hopeful but not optimistic. It's a tall order to stride into this thread and proclaim that everything is alright with Brouwer based on some paper thin arguments.

I hear Brouwer didn't have a very good season last year.

I'll go first. I see less than 20 points. About 60 games played due to a couple of minor injuries and the odd healthy scratch. And playing on the fourth line most games. (borderline NHL player)

If predominantly healthy Brouwer will score 15/35 next season. I expect that he will start the season on Bennett's wing and if he plays like he did in Nov last year he should stay there.

I hope Brouwer is nowhere near Bennett for most of next season.
Edit: so that sounded bad, reading it again. I just think Bennett needs every chance to have a breakout season and I would like to see other wingers with him. Maybe I eat crow, we'll see.

I actually think Brouwer is going to have a good bounce back season. Admittedly, I have no valid reason for this new found confidence.

A year from now, when Brouwer is once again a wasteland of possession and PP time, this thread will be quite amusing.

Well, one side of the argument will be wrong, that is for sure. I'm also certain that the losing side will be able to rationalize their position, saying Brouwer's performance was propped up/dragged down by line-mates, unsustainably high/low shooting percentage or advanced metrics, or otherwise completely ignoring what their original position was.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I think the same thing, but there are valid reasons:
a. Last season was below his average.
b. He had a hand injury which might have affected both his offensive play and perhaps his punching.
c. He was off to a pretty good start last year but with the injury, the troubles of the team and his own slide, he got shuffled around a fair bit.
d. If nothing else, he should be motivated to come back hard.

What would make you happier? Being right about this or being wrong which would mean good things for the Flames. Almost seems like you are hoping he fails - which is weird.

Those afflicted with know it allism will always favour the outcome that curtails their fear of being proven wrong over what might actually make them happy.

I hope he does have a come back year. I just don't
think that his bad year can be explained away with his broken finger as an excuse.
