Help, save, whatever.
|
I'm really hoping the Leafs can win this. I already got my Icethetics #1 logo online poll contest winner tshirt and hat on pre-order.
Frankly all of you who voted more than once should feel ashamed and I hope you all die a horrible, painful death sooner rather than later.

I don't think the whole idea is to campaign to have someone's favorite team win the tournament.
Seems like the owner of the site is just interested in the aesthetics of the logos and is interested in unbiased results.
It's ironic that some fans here are upset, that someone else is upset that they are actively working to skew his poll.

By actively working to skew the poll do you mean 'voting'?

If this his aim that it is his own fault for a very poor methodology.

That being said, I have never heard of this website before this thread was posted, so people with previous knowledge of the guy might see through that and view things differently.

Yeah, it seems pretty aimed at a forum jihad:

Completely agree, if it were just individual fans voting once and moving on, we'd be in great shape. (It's not.) The "site admins" (aka: me) don't care one way or another who wins. But I would like to conduct a fair vote.

You have people talking about strategically voting for another team over the Leafs so it will be easier for the Flames to win in the final.
When you also have fans voting for the Flames despite admitting to liking the logo of the competition team better, its not really about the logos anymore.
The forum jihads are about winning, which is fun for the participants, but not always fun for the target of said jihad.

What's interesting is that I can still vote daily for the Hawks (Thank you for voting!) but get this when trying to vote for Flames (Thank you, we have already counted your vote.)

So those trying to shame CP right now are just operating under the assumption that the Leafs beat the Bruins and Devils fair and square? Come on... Unlike your average Canadian non-Leafs hockey fan I carry no built in hatred of the Leafs, and even I know that's a laughable result.
Even reading through this thread doesn't feel like your typical CP jihad, its way overblown. It's not even so much him being upset as it is how ridiculous that message he posted on the site is. First paragraph is fine, pretty much what you expect. Then it goes off the rails in the second one. And the final line he ends on "I hope you're happy" is spit-take worthy. Pump the brakes dude.
Anyone who reads the Flames jersey idea threads has probably noticed how into sports uniform aesthetics I am, that site is right up my alley. But his eye-rolling emotional rant really soured me on it. Amateur hour.

So they isolated the Flames fans' votes as the problem?

Basically, they're not counting any vote for the Flames that has a page referral from this forum.

Where did you see that? If so, that's a a good way to ensure no one from here ever visits your site again.

Don't think that's quite it. I think they only allow one Flames vote per IP address, yet I can vote for the Blackhawks once per computer behind the same IP.
On the second computer I typed in the url and got "We've already counted your vote" for the Flames, and "Thanks for voting" for the Blackhawks.

Hey don't tell your fellow sports fans, friends, or family to come to my website and vote, that's cheating!

If this was a real Jihad, we would fight back by hacking the website and changing the front page to be a picture of dick butt.
That's what ISIS would do.
