You're seriously that small of a person? Maybe it's time you stepped back a little bit and realized its just a game and it's not important in life.
Iginla would be dead to me also if he played for the Oilers. Cheering for the Oilers because Iggy plays with them would me me puke!

Meh, it's just boredom from the dead air that exists between draft and July 1. There's always filler stuff like this. Maybe there's an Oilers tangent here with the media since them and the leafs are the darlings of the Canadian media market

Seconded. I'm assuming he's only playing for one main reason anymore and that's for a cup. Money? Lol he's got it. Fame? I'm pretty sure he was or is still a household name.

I would honestly vomit if I saw iggy raise a cup as an oiler.

The second he dons that Oilers Jersey I would hate him beyond compare. Pro sports or not you don't pull a farve and go play for the Vikings

Haha. I'm sure that will weigh heavily into his decision.

I don't think where people say if Iginla signs with the Oilers he is dead to them meant as a threat to Iginla so he is afraid to do it. People ( myself included) say that as a statement.

Seeing Iginla play with an Oilers jersey on would be even weirder than seeing Smith and Fuhr in Flames jerseys.

I don't want to see Iginla play for the Oilers. At all.

But I have a ton of respect for Iginla. He has met my son on a pair of occasions and treated him just the way you'd want a superstar to treat a young boy with dreams of playing in the NHL.

So for me, that supersedes my feelings on the rivalry and if Flames are already out of it, I would wish him well.

I assume most of the dead to me comments are somewhat tongue in cheek.

I don't expect it would, and I would be surprised if he cared. It doesn't change how I feel.

I wouldn't doubt it now if he decides to hit up Chicago like everyone says just because its the Blackhawks. You think now that his little bro Parker is now a Blackhawks prospect that it might interest him to sign there?

Matheson thinks he's down to oilers, Vegas and Detroit, suggests Detroit may have inside track due to tour of the new rink.

Questioned by an oiler fan about flames being on list, said only a slim chance. I'd trust Craig custance over Matheson for sure.

Iginla was one of the all time great flames, but his attitude towards the end of his time here and the fact that he handcuffed the flames when they tried to trade him makes it unlikely that ownership would allow him to come back imo.

I still remember when Brent suggested that he needs to adapt his game as he got older and try to be more of a 2 way player like what yzerman did and iggy told the media that he didnt want to play that way and it wasn't what he thought the team needed. He was a great player but it always seemed like it was more about in what he wanted and less about what was good for the team.

I'm sure he wouldn't waste a second thought about signing with the oilers.

lol of course Matheson thinks there's only a slim chance he signs with the Flames. Has Zero insider knowledge but then states it like it's a fact. This is why journalism is a dying field. Kid probably won't be more than a 3rd liner but I want him on the Flames just so Oiler fans can cry about why any player would choose any other team besides their own. They actually think their #### never stinks, it's mind boggling.

Hopefully someone mentioned to Foo's parents about how the Owner of the Oiler's is a mysoginist who set up a fake magazine to lure Women for sex, wouldn't want my kid playing for a man like that

If Iginla joined the Oilers I would boo him mercilessly at all times he ever touched the puck in the Saddledome. What an abomination.

I'd also hope that would be it for the Flames retiring his number. Maybe they could do one of those really stupid Forever a Flame things for #12 instead since it's sort of an insult anyway.

Yeah, it'd be pretty weird.

At some point in sports, the emotion does actually mean something or there really is no point in watching. A guy like Iggy signing with the Oilers truly would seal any doubts people should have that these guys are exclusively in it for the money.
