I trade for a potential guy (Raanta or Korpisalo) and sign Miller for 2 years.
Miller is a free agent, so no assets to acquire, and he kept a terrible Vancouver team in the playoff chase most of the season.

Miller would be 37 next year, that's too old for me
If the Flames go the UFA route, then I'd prefer him, but I'd rather they go for a trade

Miller isn't going to play here. His wife is an actress or something I think. Doubtful that an actress wants to come and live in Calgary. Just my opinion.

Is your point that we should pursue a below average goalie?
As for Millers wife, while legit, his options may be limited. Especially if he wants anything resembling a starting job.

His wife is Noureen DeWulf (Anger Management)
She hasn't worked much the last few years and after having a baby is more of a mother and housewife these days, doubt she would care much where she lived if someone would offer Ryan a contract at 37

Not according to local media in Vancouver. The common thought is that DeWulf is eager to resume her career, and Miller is looking very deliberately at work possibilities exclusively on the West Coast. The most likely scenario is that he re-signs in Vancouver, barring a move to LA or Anaheim in a backup or co-starting role.

How old is that news though? last year she did a total of 3 tv episodes with minor roles and none so far this year, her last film work was in 2013, I'm fairly certain if Ryan got a few million dollar offer to play in Calgary she would buy him and their baby son a cowboy hat and smile all the way to the nearest ATB.

I hate when Kelly Hrudey says he a good puckhandler, he's terrible. Just because you do something a lot doesn't mean you're any good at it.When the Flames played them I got excited whenever he would try to make a play because it would probably be something stupid.

He's not good at all handling the puck. Biggest myth in the league. His turnovers and mistakes are very frequent.

He's also said he wants to be a starter and if we offered that to him he might take it if Vancouver offers him a split between him and Markstrom. I remember treliving stayed behind to presumably watch Miller before the deadline so there is probably some element of interest. I still think Vancouver is likely but can't rule us out. He's probably plan c/d/e if things don't work out with our other options.

Wouldn't surprise me at all either. Teams tend to go with who they know and with the coach being part of that system, he's likely put in his good word as well. I wouldn't be opposed to taking a chance on Miller if he came cheap.

She's 33, hasn't worked in a while and has had a baby. I'd say her career in Hollywood is pretty to close to finished.

Lol love how I was roasted for saying we should trade for Smith and now we are seriously talking about 37 year old/hasnt been even close to above average in sometime Ryan Miller.

Miller's save percentage was .914 last year on a piss-poor Canucks team. He still has gas left

There's no way I'd go for Miller even if he still had some gas last year. Who knows when he's going to start dropping off but it's almost certainly going to be soon. Why would you sign up for that unless you had no other viable option?

and we wouldn't need to trade for him. I don't mind Smith as an option but not at any serious acquisition cost, as Jr GM Chakya has been discussing recently. It's almost like he doesn't know it's the expansion draft coming up and teams have options, or that his goalie is 35.

His save percentage must have been 0.999 against us.

If he can't move him for something of value why move him at all. I don't know why people think the Yotes should donate Smith to the Flames
