Either way, the Flames are huge underdogs.
If we lose the first two games of the series (lopsided) then that will at least bring the price of tickets down for the first home playoff game.
If we win the first series, then there's no reason we can't go all the way and win the Stanley Cup.

It's not stupid or irrational. You have a mystical couch that controls the universe. Nothing odd about that.

Screw it. Bring on the Ducks. Let's end the Honda Center curse once and for all and send Bieska & Kesler golfing. I hate that team so much.

Ducks is our Canuck's Chicago. The Canucks had to finally beat the Blackhawks after several years to eventually make it to the Stanley Cup finals after years of being blocked (of course they fell apart after, but that's Vancouver is no good stuff).
Whether it happens this year or the next, we need to be able to beat the Ducks.

Except that was a President's Trophy winning Canucks team against a Hawks team that barely made the playoffs, and it still took them 7 games and an OT to get past them. Calgary just isn't ready to slay this Ducks demon yet

Then why even play the games.
We didn't beat the Oilers all year, I still want to play them. I want both of them.
Here's the God's honest truth: no team is going to win an NHL playoff series if they're scared. Fate does not wait for us to be ready. They'll have to beat the Ducks at some point - may as well be now.

Let the chips fall where they may. One way or another the Flames have to start beating both the Hawks and Ducks consistently to turn into a real contender. I don't think they can win either series but if they show up and make the Hawks/Ducks work hard for it I'll be a happy fan.

The sad part about playing Anaheim is that even if we beat them 3 times in their barn, first regular season meeting next season they will still be talking about it's been 26 games or whatever that Flames haven't won at the Honda Center....sad but true
Therefore bring on the Hawks and if somehow they make it through, they play another central division team before playing the mighty quacks (oh no, back to the sad part) or the no goods.
Honestly Hawks Flames hockey would be a treat to watch with about 4 games ending in OT...

Are you saying "chips" as in French fries? To accompany roasted hawk or duck as a side dish? If so, then yes. Clever indeed.

Chicago. Honda centre thing seems like a mental block I don't know if they'll get over in a pressure cooker like the playoffs. Plus they are tougher than chicago and the flames are soft.
Most importantly san jose/edmonton are way better teams than a round 2 against minny/st lou or nashville if it comes to that.
All that said I think Chicago will probably win. But it will be a blast to watch.

Hawks are the better team; Flames forget how to hockey against the Ducks

Give me Anaheim, i think Chicago is a much better team. It's too bad a series with the Ducks will likely mean having to rely on depth after injuries inevitably happen. The Flames haven't had too much success recently when shuffling the line up. If a series with the Ducks does happen, based on last game I can't wait to watch Bennett. Bennett, of all Flames, looked up to the task physically and plain dominated a couple battles when tempers were hot. If he could just find some touch around the net he could be the series difference maker. Otherwise, I'd like to see the 3rd & 4th lines of the Flames contribute with positive goal differentials, they seem to be satisfied just forechecking hard and trying not to get scored on.
Go Flames!

Ducks GM Bob Murray said Cam Fowler (knee) will be out anywhere from two to six weeks.

Murray has some strong words for Mark Giordano's hit on Fowler. "He's done this before. I have no respect for people who go after knees."
