That play is 100000000% on Giordano and for a guy who is wearing the captaincy letter on his jersey, it's happening way to ofter this year and he should know better. He has been mediocre at best on most nights and needs to wake up.
Otherwise HUGE win and the refs were horrible.

Am I only allowed to talk about Tkachuk's mistake if I also bad mouth Gio for something that has been talked about quite a bit in the GT and PGT?
Such a strange line of thinking. You're the third person now to say Tkachuk's mistake was actually Gio's mistake. It's bizarre.
Tkachuk made an error. It was a mistake and I decided to comment on it. Sorry if that offends anyone. I never once brought up the breakaway or it not being Gio's fault. No idea why it is such a hot button issue for some people.

Could someone explain this missed goal? I didn't get to see the game or any highlights.

Johnny got hauled down while breaking away from the Sharks defenders and couldn't get a good shot on the empty net. It should have been awarded an automatic goal but was just a penalty instead.

I think the only point I'm trying to make is if Tkachuks play doesn't result in a breakaway you probably don't mention it because it's a nothing play with less than 10 seconds left in the game, and the only reason it resulted in a breakaway is because Giordano fell asleep.

I don't blame the forwards at all. The defence fell asleep. 10 seconds to go and there is a scrum for the puck.
Both D should be in the neutral zone not asleep in our own zone while we have the pp and the one goal lead. Hamilton is just as culpable as Giordano on that play. He was in the corner in case the puck came up the boards. We didn't need a goal. He should be in the neutral zone making sure nobody gets behind himself and his D partner. Same goes for Gio.

This should be a happy thread. Griping on mistakes is for GTs and losses. Wins are wins and we should all get along!!

So I'm assuming Elliott on Friday against the Devils and Johnson Saturday against the Oilers?

No, you've decided to harp on it. Annoyingly.

I don't want Elliott facing the Oilers again after games 1&2.
He does well against teams under the playoff line so I'd gamble on him. Devils aren't known for scoring a lot of goals either.
Put in our best tender on saturday for the 4 point game. Also cause I want the guy that gives us the best chance at embarrassing those punks like we should've done in October.

Quality of opposition aside, I've always thought the better move was to play the lesser goalie first in a back to back. That way, if they win, great and now you have your best goalie next game, and if they lose, too bad, but now you have your best goalie next game. The Flames always went the other way with Kipper. Then if he lost the first one there was a sinking feeling that they would lose both, since the backup was playing next.

Gritty win against one of the very top teams. Had to battle back. What's not to like?

Which is fair except I noticed his unnecessary move to the corner and between the legs drop pass before it resulted in a breakaway.
End of the day it's a random observation that doesn't need to be blown out of proportion.
It was a good win and hopefully it is followed by b2b victories this weekend.

Except for when he came back from injury and was on fire for 12 games.
You said Guadreau looked like he was skating in mud tonight. I didn't see that at all either.
I think he's been fighting it at times, but tonight wasn't one of them.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm more in the quality of competition camp. If we were playing the Oilers on Friday, I would want Johnson in goal against the division rival.
