For his current salary, probably. That way there is still room to upgrade at some point.

If he wants more than $3 million/year, let him walk.

Putting the entire blame on him for our atrocious start is ludicrous.

Id sign him under 3m as our back up for next season. Then go out and get a goalie this offseason that we will expect to start.

Also he cant be blamed for our rough start. We were playing terrible defence. At one point i swear we gave up 5 breakaways a game. I think mcdavid had 3 in one game.

Elliott is 16-13-3 this year with a .901 SV% and a 2.65 GAA.

However, after starting 3-9-1, he's since gone 13-4-2.

I'd bring him back for sure.

Flames need two goaltenders next year, Gillies and crew aren't ready.

If Elliott wants to share the net again, I think his play in 2017 has proven himself worthy.

Bring him back, and if he's terrible during the first half of the season, play the backup. When he starts to pick up his play in the second half, ride him just like this year.

And there you go again. I just saw it now and didn't look at the date, but it's no less true.

Default Would you re-sign Brian Elliott?

No. Think of where the Flames would be with a consistently average starter, rather than a bottom 5 goalie.

I'm stoked he's playing great right now, but it does not erase a seasons worth of awful goaltending.

Re-signing Elliott also costs us a 3rd round pick. Sign a better goalie this summer and don't lose the 3rd.

Yep I'd bring him back. He's turned clutch again when it matters.

I'd bring Johnson back as well.

Those red pads were cursed. He's looked way better since the switch to white.

It seems like he's finally broken the ice, and he's comfortable. TBQH, most of the team sucked balls on and off, for the first half of the year, so if I forgive the rest of them, I forgive Elliott, and grow some faith. I would be a-ok with a short contract. 1,2, or maybe 3 years, depending on $$.

The guy can do it, he just needs to find his groove. Looks like he has. Hopefully it sticks. Really hoping this isn't Turek 2.0.

No rush.

Could be a buyer's market in the off-season.

Erase the first month and Elliott's stats are impressive. What he is doing recently and for the rest of the season is why the Flames should resign Elliott. These are the games that matter and Elliott is looking more and more like the STL league leading avg goalie they traded for than the October version.

Possibly. See how it shakes out in the off-season. Perhaps Bishop can be signed at a somewhat reasonable rate.

Yup. See if you can get a guy that you think has long term starter potential and if not, then you have to start considering Elliott. If he goes crazy in the playoffs you might not even need to go looking for the long-term guy.

My opinion isn't worth much, as casual as I am, but Bishop just seems like such a gamble. For all the nights I saw Elliott give up a muffin on the highlights, I also saw Bishop doing the same. Bishop is considered a #1, Elliott is considered a 1A. I'd rather the Flames pay $3MM to a 1A, than $6MM+ to a #1, if they're pretty much comparable.

TL;DR, no Bishop, please. He'll want money AND term.

depends on the asking price i guess...

not sure if there is or will be anyone that better for the price on the UFA market is there?

its really been a tale of two seasons for elliot... but in all honesty, those troubles could have easily been a result of new city, new team, new coaching staff, new system.

i think it makes sense to wait and see who else shakes out after the expansion draft, but I'd definitely lean towards keeping him.

how the rest of the season goes will really make or break that case
