Well if Crawford didn't stand on his head in the first 30, the Flames wouldn't have needed Elliot to do the same in the third so there's that side of it too.

So can we credit the coach for the Flames peppering the Hawks through 30 or is this just a one way deal with you?

It all started back in the autumn of aught nine... There was this golf pro with a funny name, who committed certain...transgressions... It deserved a thread. Years later, it is still funny to shoehorn 'transgressions' into a thread title. If you don't like it, move to Shelbyville.

Two threads on the first page in a season where the Flames haven't even played 10 games into the season:

1) Fire Gulutzan
2) Gulutzan for Jack Adams

This is what happens when people start closing themselves off from the outside world. Too many of the same type of fanatics

I suspect the second thread was sarcasm and not legit.

At least it was hyperbolic in the opposite direction of this one. Yin an Yang so to speak. I'm not one that usually cares about threads, but having that one locked and this one still going doesn't seem right. Hopefully this ones dies a slow death and the coach talk can carry on in the coaching style thread. Maybe just a title edit is needed.

I thought it clearly was sarcasm and I also thought it was well played.

Some of the threads in here after 5/6 games are just unreal. None of us like losing, but "Fire Gulutzan" "Bring back Hartley" etc.

Some people need to get a grip and step away from the ledge. It's disappointing to start that way but it's only hockey and the above thread titles represent scenarios that are not even remotely possible at this point in time.

People who overreact that much need/deserve to be poked fun at a little bit IMO.

We have a long way to go. 2 big wins against tough teams. Great. You can't make the playoffs in October but you can cost your team the playoffs in October.

But the fact remains that we still have to play about 13 games over 500 the rest of the way in to hit 95 points.

I especially love the dramatic overreactions about people overreacting.

Oh my god! These overreactions are just unbearable and make life so hard. I can't read this stuff, but everyone must at least know how I feel about it. I just can't go on. The humanity!

Just don't click on the thread and especially don't reply to it. Problem solved.

Wouldn't you have to win at roughly that clip anyway? How much lower would that streak need to be to qualify if we had won 1 or 2 more games in our first 6?

It's a fairly negligible point difference. The Flames are going to have to win more than they lose to make the playoffs. Just like all the other teams.

Looks like the players aren't actually dummies and are starting to figure "The System (tm)" out.

Short breakout passes from the hash marks out, sometimes even within the defensive zone. Move as a five man unit.

Line changes are also quite different than the Hartley era. Even on an offensive rush a forward can change out.

Saw basically zero stretch passes the last two games. I noticed especially Gio and Wideman still kept trying to do them in previous games. Forwards were not expecting them and so didn't have enough speed to carry the play (In one previous game, I saw a one stretch pass to a forward that was going for a line change. Nice read...)

PK is now very aggressive, with a default diamond formation, but each player has responsibility for a large portion of the ice and so must be able to move quickly to pressure points (corners, etc). Unlike other teams they still don't seem to want to outnumber the puck carrier along the boards - I think the coaching staff feels the PKers are too slow to move back if they can't pressure the carrier off the puck.

These things are in stark contrast with the Hartley system. Offensive rushes kept players out on the ice for extended periods even if they were gassed. Defensive breakouts were non-existent. PK was very very passive.

Also it helps that both new goalies seem to want to smother the puck rather than let out rebounds. Not sure if that's the coaching staff or the goalies making that decision.

Rough start but the worst part was losing two in a row to Edmonton. Shame, that is never acceptable.

Maybe I'm stating the obvious but isn't everyone on the hotseat given this teams record over the last few years? Another 25th place finish will result in fingers being pointed somewhere and some kind of changes being made.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

The last two games show that the boys can play GG's system and it seems to work pretty good... Off days will still happen but they can't use the system as an excuse anymore (not that they ever did). I expect a lot more efforts like the last two games...

This is one of multiple posts by you on this exact subject. At this point, aren't you just overreacting about the perceived overreaction from people regarding the overreaction about starting 1-4-1?

If you don't like those posts, take your own medicine and don't read them and reply to them. Problem solved.

Why would I do that? Like I said, I love reading them. I usually read them in Scarlet O'Hara's voice.
