Bennett would do well in Stockton right now, he really hasn't dealt with real adversity yet.

I am relatively certain our vets will come around. Although soon would be nice. To be a good team, I thought Bennett and Hamilton would need to take steps forward.
None of it is happening. Our 2nd tier players (Brower, Frolik, Backlund) are playing well enough but that won't win you any games.

I know, I was agreeing with you. They look off but they don't look checked out. They'll come around eventually. Hey, Gaudreau still has 3 points and Monahan as 2 goals despite playing terrible. It's frustrating but not panic time.

And a couple of our 3rd tier guys too (Chiasson & Stajan).

Gulutzan...are you purposely misspell people's last name? If I remember correctly, you kept misspelling Johnson.

Just got home from the Dome. Terrible. So many turnovers, so many forced plays. Le sigh. We're gonna get better, right?

Ah, I'm getting lazy I guess, Guelatzen, people know who I'm talking about. I'll adjust with time. It's not your run of the mill everyday name.

If this doesn't improve in the next 4 games, send Chucky down and let him develop where he can win and call up Shinkaruk. Put Bennett on the 4th line to face easier competition and get some confidence. Move Stajan up the lineup.

So basically they peaked with the (mostly) Feaster team and have been going downhill since? Kind of seems like it.

It's not just that the play is uninspired but there is no cohesiveness, no team dynamic at all. At least under Hartley they played as a team, I don't know what this is ... every man for himself? The schedule coming up is rough so let's hope this is a case of the team playing down to its opponent, but it sure doesn't look that way. A win against the Blues on Saturday would go a long way though.

What makes this even worse is that our two most hated rivals are having pretty good seasons so far. Man, it sucks to be a Flames fan right now. Really hoping these guys can turn it around soon.

Good coaches make adjustments to their system when needed, to adapt to the strengths and weaknesses the players have.
Like other people have said, its really hard to tell what Gulutzan's system is, but the team looks really slow, and disoriented in all 3 zones of the ice.
It's an old cliche, but the Flames best players are not their best players right now.
P.S.
The power play is also terrible, and the team is taking tons of penalties every game.

All I can say is that I'm reminded of this post in the GDT:
Quote:
That Carolina forward group has to be the worst in the league

And my response of:

Perhaps. But the Flames could easily lose this one if they chose to take them lightly. What would that say about us then?
|
Worst game ever. Hugely embarassing to be a fan of the team after this game. I have faith that they can be competitive this season. But these are dark times right now...
