Strange. A little googling tells me the companion app is available for android as well as iOS.

I’m not cancelling because this is probably a ploy to get out of selling the game for $50, so screw them.

This is getting a lot of attention on reddit. I myself submitted a complaint to the competition bureau (as this is a bait and switch) and emailed rockstar games to inform them that Amazon is throwing them under the bus any time a customer complains about an unfulfilled order.
Chat support only offered me $10 so I'm going to go after them again

Oh really?? I can't find it anywhere in the Play Store. The article I read about it said it's available on iOS on release day with no mention of Android

I have it on my Samsung tablet. Search for RDR2 companion.
Also, this game is absolutely gorgeous. I love all the little cinematic touches, and the soundtrack is fantastic. It truly feels like an interactive western film.
The 'cores' feature is going to take a lot of getting used to. Not sure I'm terribly psyched about it, but it adds a small element of realism.

Yeah I’m getting a little overwhelmed by all the systems at play. I also find the HUD elements are a little small and indistinguishable. But I haven’t checked yet if I can customize that.

Is there any time line for the port to PC? I cant wait to play RDR2 but I just have a hard time playing PS4 instead of PC.

Glad I didn't pre-order. I'll let you know my experience in a week when the game finally finishes installing/updating.

I was just there. That explains why the shelf was so full, I went after work expecting it to be slim pickings but their must have been hundreds of copies. Must not have gotten it until late
Anyway, got the PS4 pro red dead pack and it's copying from the disc right now. 90 minutes ETA start to finish. Can't wait!

It fell off again in a firefight during the next mission and couldn’t find it. It magically appeared again after the train robbery so I guess Arthur went out and got it.

This is an amazing accomplishment in video games, but I do have a few gripes:
- Not a fan of the animation intensive style of the RDR series. Every move is animation-based, so it's always like a slow process unfolding. It's incredibly cumbersome, and I noticed some of it in RDR I. What makes GTA so much fun is that it is fluid. Arthur just feels 'heavy' when controlling him, if that makes sense.
- The environments are beautiful, but I can't see anything. When someone is shooting at me, I can't really see where they are, especially at night. Maybe this is an adjustment I need to make, but the game is so incredibly detailed and realistic that it's visual overload.
- The UI and HUD just suck. The menus are poor. Trying to find the right tonic or provision is a chore I don't want to have to do. If they at least made the satchel more user friendly and added a filter so you could quickly find what you were looking for it would be better. Right now it's a pain in the ass.
- Combat isn't as fun as RDR I. The little details are neat, such as cycling the chamber and cocking a rifle, but it's not fun. And I don't like the new dead eye system at all. Combined with the poor satchel system and the heavy animation to take cover, aim, and shoot it's a bummer. I loved firefights in RDR I. This feels like an exercise in frustration. Maybe I'll get used to it.
- I don't like having to re-equip every weapon except my default revolver every time I get on or off my horse. I always forget and when I get into a mission I'm without my repeater, bow, whatever. The horse storage system is a good idea, but it's just a bit over the top as is.
This is the most in-depth experience I have ever had with a game, but I don't really find myself having fun playing it. I'm thinking too much about everything, overwhelmed just processing the visual achievement they have crafted, and fighting with the controls to really enjoy the game. I expected to lose track of time like I did with RDR I, GTA 5, Skyrim, Fallout, etc. but I can easily just walk away from this title.
Perhaps I over-hyped this for myself, or maybe I just need time to learn and adapt, but right now I have to say I'm substantially disappointed with the experience.

I finally passed RDR1 tonight and downloaded 2. Looking forward to sinking some time into it in the coming days.

JFC the gameplay and combat mechanics in this game are awful. What a mess.

I can't put this game down right now. Just an overwhelming experience so far. I'm at the chapter two horseshoe camp and there is a ton to do. You go for a quick ride out of camp and it feels like everywhere you go there is something going on. The completionist in me is having a complete meltdown at all the side-quests and challenges that are streaming out everytime i step into a new area.
It's just such a beautiful game to explore and experience. I can't remember the last time I just stopped to look at the environments in a game so many times. Part of me wants to rush through the missions to progress and upgrade, while another part wants to take my time and explore every inch of the map.
Not really a spoiler but just in case:

I don't find it that bad, other than being horrible with a controller after being strictly a PC player for the last few years

I think I see your take on the game, but I have to say I completely and passionately disagree with you.
The game looks incredible, it plays fantastic, and the only complaint I have after digging into it is that picking up items inside a room is annoying because the camera usually sits in a weird position.
I’m not sure how badly you hyped this game up for yourself, but I was expecting RDR but better, something about as good as GTAV. So far? My expectations are far exceeded.
I’m sorry you’re disappointed, but I would recommend taking a step back and revisiting the game later. It’d be a shame not to appreciate it.

The only thing really bugging me is holding X while horseback riding, all the time. There’s so much horseback riding and so far of distances to cover, I’d like to just set it to follow the road at a set speed and I could zone out for a bit.

It's the first time in many many years since I've had this feeling of excitement all day at work to go home and play a video game. I thought maybe i was just losing my love of games as I got older but this one makes me feel like a teenager again

One suggestion for that: go to first person when you're looting or picking up items. I find it helps.
I'm surprised few people have an issue with the incredibly clunky controls. The game feels like GTA IV, only more restricted. Walking, running, riding are all so slow, and it feels like I'm trying to steer or turn a series of ocean liners. Your complaint is a perfect example of the frustrations I have just controlling my character.
And I started getting used to the micromanagement RPG style it's trying to pull off with games like Fallout, but this takes it to a bit of an extreme. For every 1 minute you spend engaging the story, you will spend 5-10 just riding and trying to manage your cores, your horse, the camp, and so forth. It's all really neat and super detailed, but the novelty wore off a couple hours into the game and now just feels tedious. I dread having to deal with it over a 60 to 80 hour story experience, especially with that god awful satchel menu.
I'm definitely going to give it more of a chance, but right now it feels like I'm working towards completing it rather than having fun playing and getting lost in the world they created.
I really want to love this game, but I'm not close to being there yet.
