All anyone has to do to beat him is fake a slapshot.

One year deal hoping to get paid again next year is so risky. Has anyone ever gone to Edmonton and improved their value?

Smart move would be to take less on a top team, then 4-5 for one year from a bottom feeder.

*Nurse, Reinhart, Gryba

Is more likely.

The continued push from Oiler fans that Davidson is more than a 5-7 Dman.

I have read that Sekera has been playing the right side at the WCH and doing fairly well. I would think Russell-Sekera would be the 2nd pair. Maybe I will be proven wrong this year but that blue line is still a mess for the next year or 2. If Klefbom, Larson, Nurse are the real deal then the blue line does have a lot of potential down the road

I'd say Davidson would definitely be the 4th best d-man on the Flames, just ahead of Nakladal if he re-signs, but he's probably best suited for the 3rd pairing. Teams have championship level depth if Davidson isn't in their top 6.

What's really funny though, is that Davidson might be the #4 on the Flames, but the rest of the guys ahead of him on Edmonton's depth chart would be too.

I'm not going to make a thread for it since people will only post in it to #### on the player, but here's my Russell highlight video:

Who is the #1 draft pick projected to be next year? Because Edmonton says "Come on DOWN!!"

It's true. The Oilers almost certainly will kill individual players' values these days.

Even Taylor Hall, who should still be trending upwards, depreciated as an asset only to fetch a #2/3 stay at home d-man after spending a few years with the team.

They're a safe way to ensure a swift exit from the league if you're a journeyman UFA. But at least you get paid nicely to dampen the fall?

Well, I guess hes lucky then, Brandon to Edmonton is more or less a lateral move and should be an easy transition.

Although, it should be noted that at least Brandon is on the Highway as opposed to being in the middle of Northern Nowhere.

Interesting that the persistent opinion that the Oilers will remain as a doormat team as it was during the Lowe dynasty.

Chiarelli based on his body of work in Boston is significantly smarter than Lowe.

His single glaring error was trading for Reinhart for 16 & 33 Reinhart is still on his ELC and an 865k cap hit and a 70 k AHL salary. He is closer to playing in the NHL than any d-man available at the #16 spot.. including the #53 and #60 pick.

That is pretty much a wash with what the Stars gave to the Flames for the Russell rental.

If he has the cap space to take advantage of a short term deal for Russell I don't see how this would be a bad thing.

He has addressed the Oilers Goalie situation with Talbot. He has been making the moves that Lowe wouldn't changing fancy forwards for solid defense. He has changed the feel of the Oilers adding Maroon and Lucic ...

I sincerely hope that past performance does not reflect future returns as I would like the Flames to win more than 1 playoff series every 12 years.

Imagine the fun playing the Oilers in the 2nd round.
