Carroll, Janko, Smith, Culkin, Bruce, and Kanzig are the guys out there.
Thanks Caged Great. I always appreciate your writeups on the camps.

Carroll is my darkhorse to make the Flames this year. I really think he's got "it".

Janko looks good. Best player out there

Phillips is tiny, makes Gaudreau look tall by comparison.

Rittich is a similar style goalie to Henrik Karlsson.

Everyone else looks fairly decent thus far. will have more info later.

@DarrenWHaynes Darren Haynes

I asked Jon Gillies if he can feel the difference after last year's hip surgery: "For starters, when I come off from practice, I can walk."

My friend was at development camp and sent me a summary of what he saw:

As the drills went on and were more game situation Janko stood out. He has some skill. Carrol looks NHL ready for a 4th liner. Pollock made some great plays and looks like he will be a serviceable bottom 6 guy. Smith I can't tell. He looks like he could be in that bottom 6 role as well but I think I judge him harder(I find guys over 6'4 rarely succeed at making the jump. Burke faded away but Dube stepped up and showed some nice skill, I am interested in his year in Kelowna this season. Phillips has a LOOONG way to go, looked out of place as a small guy.

Anderson looks like he has all the tools and could be very good, practice was tough on him and he was worn out by the end. Culkin looks NHL ready I would say. Safe smart plays, uses his body well. Ollasmattson and Kanzig don't have the ability to play in the NHL

Gillies looks like a wall, huge and always in position. Rittich made a couple highlight real saves. McDonald looks like a bust

Doucette was very physical throughout. More than happy to throw the body and didn't hesitate.

Hickey looked very quick out there. Progressing nicely.

Culkin, not so much, needs to be better.

Gillies and McD both looked stable and solid in the crease. Wouldn't be surprised if they have good years. Gillies is finally healthy although he is still rehabbing. Skated 15 times this off season already. At least with his surgery he is able to be more flexible in the crease.

Dube is a skilled forward. Very good hands.

Smith looked better than he ever has at one of these. Looked determined out there.

Burke was good, not a surprise. Would not be shocked if he gets inked by the end of the week.

Harrison was there

Pollock was decent but didn't stand out in a huge way. AOM was the same way

Kanzig looked decent, albeit unspectacular.

Love that people can claim a player is a bust after day 1 of development camp.

I like how we have two very different views on the players as posted above. Just shows how perspectives of players can vary greatly
