All of Fort McMurray is under a mandatory evacuation order including Saprae Creek. The Reception Centre at MacDonald Island has been evacuated, with those evacuees sent to the Anzac Recreation Centre. The Fort McMurray International Airport remains open at this time.
All residents should go south to the Anzac Recreation Centre. Follow the directions of local authorities. Seek medical attention if you experience breathing difficulties.

There isn't enough physical space in the air to add anymore aircraft.

I'm assuming there's enough space in the transit to water sources and back to the fire to have them or they wouldn't be there

The tankers and the helicopters have to be kept pretty far apart for safety reasons.
The fire was probably long and skinny due to the winds. Nobody would be working on the head of the fire in the afternoon.
They are probably hitting it hard right now with everything they have until dark.

Assuming various drives start up to collect stuff for the residents, what sort of stuff will be needed? Or is the most effective thing just money to the Red Cross?

I don't post this because Brian Jean's home is any more important than anyone else's. It's not. I just want to give perspective that full on communities from trailer parks to upscale residential neighbourhoods have been destroyed.

I said allegedly because Zeller is a photog of some renown and I've followed him for a bit and he's never seemed to be a rumor spreader. But this is twitter and things get a bit crazy, so it make be a fake and he may have been taken in like so often happens during events such as these.

Money is usually best. Easy for the Red Cross to use it as they see fit and little to no man power required compared to physical donations
