He'd be an immediate upgrade on Bollig, that's for damn sure.

Yeah, then I could cheer when that guy wearing a jersey in the mid-20's scores his go-ahead game-winners in the dying seconds against a Western Conference opponent in the final games of the season series.

The team openly rebelled and quit on him in the playoffs - they hung Kipper out to dry and put no effort in during that series against Detroit.
It may not have been fully rotten yet but it was the first sign that the roster had too much power and were inmates running the asylum.

I can agree with that much, but that was partially on Playfair for failing to get the team on board. Can't hand-waive it as "just" a rotten core being rotten.

Given what Duhatchek said on the Radio, Ralph Kruger fascinates me.

The potential of Krueger finding success in Calgary after the Edmonton debacle is enough to get me interested. Just imagine the possibilities. And i guess he always seemed a like a players coach who also knew how to teach. But that's secondary.

Any notes?
Without listening, I am rather intrigued by Kruger as he seems like a really smart guy who communicates very well. Would love to hear what Duhatschek said about him, especially as I always value Duhatschek's opinion as well.

I hope we just choose the best coach with no intentions to make a hire to spite another team.

Sorry. That was poor form.
Just that by all accounts he is a very good coach and despite his lack of work he is highly thought of. Also that under his watch, the Oilers actually looked like a team that was ready to take the next step.
Nothing revolutionary, but to hear a guy like Duhatchek say these things gives the thought more weight.

Playfair's system was awful. You think the stretch pass is bad? Playfair's system was for a forward to stop at the other team's blueline, receive a pass, then somehow start moving again to gain the zone. It was like the stretch pass but with the players expending energy to halt and then regain their own inertia.

If Dave Tippett became our head coach I would probably have to stop watching for a while. Who wants to watch that boring b.s. hockey? Gaudreau would probably lead the Flames in points with 45. No thanks!

I'm also worried about switching to a defense first system. Despite all Hartley's flaws, we've had some pretty entertaining hockey the past few seasons.

I like Kevin Dineen, not a rookie coach and has gained some great experience with the Hawks since his first gig and Burke & Treliving want the team to play how Dineen did as a player.

Isn't he the manager of some big time Euro football club now?

Southampton, yeah. Not a "big time" club by any means, more like a middle of the pack team in the Premier League. Either way, I don't see him returning to coaching any time soon.
