Kings have a lot at stake for this game. They weren't about to mail this one in.

I don't want them to win but they are 5-3-2 in the last ten. Can't exactly accuse the players of not trying..

Pete...It is hard to believe the Canadian provincialism, but, every Canadian commentator I have heard wants to anoint McJesus, if only to validate his pre-season hype, if not to save some face for Canadians being shut out of the playoffs, and a US player finally winning the Ross (and I have heard many US Hockey writes plugging BENN, to try to deny Kane the Hart)...as far as US media types, because the 'Hawks DON'T play on one of the coasts, and there is a lot of resentment of 'Hawk success, the trend, too, is to protect their egos, for having pre-season picked McD for the Calder...
It just would NOT surprise me, if politics wins out over raw scoring stats (despite Panarin clawing his way into, not just the ROOKIE top 10 in scoring, but, the top 10 in the entire League (currently tied for 10th with Burns)), in both post season awards.

Do they though? They have one of the best prospect pools in the NHL and imo they have a team that highly under performed this year

Washington and Dallas both win. The Stars win the Central (and the West) and will take on the Wild in the first round.
GO STARS GO!!!

What are the Jets doing, placing Pavelec in net? The Jets have given him far too much rope. Bring up Hellebuyck next year to start.

Do they?
I'm of the opinion that clinching the division would give them the more unfavourable matchup. Sharks? Meh. Preds? Wow, they are on an absolute roll since Johansen acclimatized to the team aren't they? They've got to be one of the hottest teams in the last couple months.
Kings should be throwing this game in order to not have to play the Preds lol.

As far as you guys getting a top choice...what would it be? Defense for the future? I have been impressed by the likes of Monahan and Gaudreau...Bennett has room to grow...Backlund had a nice season...Drafting Goaltenders is a crap-shoot...I don't really follow juniors, is there a goalie you need to draft high to get? Resetting your bottom 6 shouldn't require high picks, just some careful scouting and some luck...
From what I've seen, the big Band-Aid you guys need, is in net...

The Blues come in second place in the Central Division and will take on the Blackhawks in the first round. It will be the second time in three years these two teams battle it out in a playoff series.

Ideally we land a 1st line winger with size but getting a potential top 3 defenseman wouldn't be a terrible idea either.

In my humble opinion, the Flames are pretty stocked at the defense position that they can afford to skip on one in the 1st round. But you can never have enough of one thing right? D men are probably the most coveted trade asset in the modern NHL anyhow.
But the serious lack of RW depth in the organization merits them focusing on that position. Notable Flames RW prospects with top 6 upside: Emile Poirier.
