Rankings definitely have no credibility but its a useful table if you ignore the rankings.

I don't quite understand the love for Raanta or Mason. I don't think either is better than what had with Ramo (since the recall).
Raanta's numbers from this season has been pretty average (7-4-2, 2.31gaa, 0.915 s%) playing behind a very good Rangers defense. Cam Talbot put up much better numbers playing on the same team. The 2 years before this he was playing on a cup-favourite Hawks team. Last year his numbers was impressive though, I'll give him that (7-4-1, 1.89gaa, 0.936 s%), but the year before that he was worse than Ramo (13-5-4, 2.71gaa, 0.897 s%). Splitting his time on 2 powerhouse teams and just really coming away looking average at best.
As for Steve Mason, the guy hasn't been all that great since winning the Calder back in '09. Lost his starting job that he had for the past 3 years to Neuvirth and is putting up pretty pedestrian performances (aside from the shutout yesterday, but it was against the jackets).
Like some others, I would like to see us go after Andersen or Bishop, which would cost assets unfortunately, or Reimer in free agency.

Agree about Anderson and Bishop.
About Raanta, he has proven he is good coming in cold. Something positive going forward.
I think Ortio, like kipper, always struggles coming in cold.

I like Anderson and Bishop too. Not sure how Flames would be able to fit them in as I think Tampa and Anaheim would want picks and or prospects due to their own salary cap concerns. A guy that might work would be Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh is in real salary cap Hell next year and with Matt Murray looking so good they may be willing to move Fleury. Penguins need bottom 6 forwards and draft picks. I propose Bouma, Stajan( $1 million retained), Florida's 2nd rounder this year and Flames 3rd rounder this year. Can always adjust picks if Pittsburgh adds to the deal. Flame away!

You might be overpaying as I don't think there are many teams that need a goalie and have space for Fleury. Maybe Carolina and Fleury does have a no movement clause. The Penguins need to do something either with him or I've heard Malkin. Malkin maybe even harder to move. Fleury would be excellent though.

It may be an overpaying but only slightly. Flames have enough picks this year especially in first two rounds that they can do it. Fleury is the best player in the deal, Fleury's NMC is a list of 12 teams he won't accept a trade to according to generalfanager

My poor attempt at editing, this is Marc-Andre Fleury's page on generalfanager.com

I'm thinking the Penguins can't take any contracts back above the minimum so a couple of picks and maybe a player on an entry level contract, might do it.

Pittsburgh can take some money back just not more coming in than going out. A couple of cheaper players may work as well but now the Flames would have to find additional trades to free up cap room. Stajan is a hard guy to find a landing spot for. With Stajan gone, Raymond looking like he is going to get bought out, Smid likely going on LTIR until his contract runs out ( don't have any insider info just a hunch) Wideman becomes the only player the Flames need to move out to safely fit everybody in. Gaudreau and Monahan won't be cheap.

Aside from the Ottawa game, Ortio had been playing very well as of late. If he can keep it up for the remainder of the season, he should be brought back as the full time backup. The 3 headed goalie monster was a major fail so I'm willing to overlook his early struggles. Still need to acquire a potential starter though. Whether that's Andersen, Raanta, Murray, etc. remains to be seen but I don't think we should completely give up on Ortio just yet.

Marc-Andre Fleury and Joni Ortio ( as long as he keeps his level of play up) works for me next year.

I still think it's pretty risky pencilling in Ortio as the NHL backup next year. I would be OK with Fleury and I don't believe he would cost too much to acquire. I also think it's unlikely they have any interest in Stajan but who knows. Fleury is an established starter which this team could definitely use. He is one of a few options out there potentially.

Stay away from Bishop. He plays the same game as the shooter tutor but is bigger so covers more of the net. I'd wait to see how the new form fitting equipment will affect the efficacy of his style. I think the days of the big wall style goaltenders may be coming to an end. A lot of those guys are bean poles and once they wear goaltending equipment that is designed to protect rather than occupy space they may find themselves out of a job pretty quickly.

That list is depressing. Aside from Mazrek (maybe Reimer), you could argue every one of those goalies is worse than Ramo. The biggest mistake Treliving could make is trade for or sign a UFA to long term deal in a knee jerk reaction. Whoever he chooses, I hope the term is 2 years, which likely takes Reimer out of the picture. Put me in the minority that wouldnt mind a Ramo Ortio tandem next year.

May be an option out of left field but if Ortio and/or ramo are re-signed this summer... How would everyone feel about bringing kipper back to Calgary as the new goalie coach? Last I heard he was a goalie coach in Finland. Not sure if he would be interested but if he was and he's had enough experience at it, I think he would fit well since both ramo and Ortio play a similar athletic style like he did.

We should probably take our minds of Murray. I don't think he's going anywhere

I don't get the love on Reimer here either. He can't hack it with Toronto so how do they expect him to help the Flames. I would rather have Ramo than getting Reimer. I am sure there are other goalies that Flames can go after.

What about Varlomov? The Avs love ex-Flames maybe something can be done around Wideman+pick? He has 2 or 3 more years at $5.9M on the cap and is 27
