I suppose that is possible, but I don't think it is likely. He still will stand to make more money in the NHL than almost anywhere else—I don't think he would be a highly attractive commodity for the KHL at this juncture. He won't get much interest from another NHL team—certainly no more than he receives from Calgary. If he doesn't sign it is a probable sign that his NHL career is over, and I think he is too young to start thinking about that.
In short, I'll be stunned if he is not @ Flames training camp in Sept.
