Seriously, I'd put Backlund, Bennett, Ferland, Jones and others in front of the lash long before Monahan even gets thought of. And it isn't even right to put Bennett there, and to a much lesser extent Ferland. But nigh, they do the right things but the scoresheet is a mystery to them, Monahan on the other hand is a scoring leader and is getting put ahead of the rest. It's kind of silly.

I don't think you or others quite understand.
I don't see a lot of hand wringing, just commentary and critique. That doesn't mean any of the ridiculous assumptions that a lot of posts have been made.
You know, you can criticize a player's play without the intended meaning:
a) that player must be traded
b) the season is over
c) I hate the Flames
d) the player will suck forever
etc. etc. etc. It's a discussion board. It's a critique of a guy's play. When a guy plays poorly, he'll get called out on it. It doesn't mean I hate him or the Flames or all is lost. It's just an observation. I have Monahan in my pool, I want him to do well and get points.
Lastly, yes, usually the best players are held to a higher standard because, well, they're the best! I have high expectations for Monahan (which is actually, you know, a compliment / good thing).
I don't understand why if a player plays poorly they can't be called out on here. It's not a roller coaster of emotion, it's just making an observation.
