Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to remember the NHL career of a man unlike any other in the league.A man of many talents, but probably best known for the amazing things he did with his stick.
A man whose name was on people's lips every time he scored.
A man who didn't need an open net to shoot at; he could work his magic with the tiniest hole.
A man who truly enriched the game. Not only a fertile offensive player, he gave of himself unsparingly. Every time he played, he left it all on the ice.
A man who improved his teammates. He left a little bit of himself in everyone he played with.
A man who produced in spurts, but towards the end, slowed down to a trickle.
A man like Julius Caesar: he came, he saw, he conquered. At any rate, he came.
A man who erected his own monument.
His like will not come again. We hope.
