I dont know why Brayden point is getting such mad love. If I were to rank the Centers for Canada i'd have them:

Strome
Stephens (to be fair he's still kind of recovering from a leg unjury)
Barzal
Point

Barzal-Stephens-Perlini were one dynamite line in the U-17's and U-18's I believe. They should be re-united at some point.

If you took Hudler's overall skills and build/skating, supplemented with Gaudreau's IQ, and then added Backlund's defensive game, that's Brayden Point. A lot to like even if he's not flashy.

A lot of it can also be finding players with complementary styles: Sanheim is good at jumping into the rush, while Hickey really excels at defensive zone play.

its also age

a 19 year old Brayden Point is a better option for the top 6, which looks pretty set, than 18 year old Barzal or Stephens

A few days ago, Lowry criticized Dermott for not being physical enough in camp, even though they know he can be. Maybe trying to send a message.

Love how Sweden's lines are just a mashing of "s"s. And Forsbacka-Karlsson gives the 3rd line 4 players

Hickey has a real shot it looks like. Good for him. As a NCAA player, the exposure could wake a lot of people up in Canada as to who and what Hickey is.

Just got a piece of that's hockey. Lowry the canda coach was on, he said something along the lines of " guys better start playing hard, vacation is over" at practice. Guess he didn't like the intensity from some guys, and reminded the players that guys are still going to get cut.

Looks like the Top 4 D are set and they are trying to figure out the bottom 3. I think Hickey has a good chance.

Hawryluk, Merkley, Juulsen, and Lauzon were the final cuts.

Wasn't Juulsen supposed to be a lock? I've been watching him in Everett and he looks steady and ok.. Nothing spectacular though.

Never heard anyone credible say Juulsen was a lock.

Maybe not a lock I just saw most of the commentary being about some of the other defenseman potentially being cut (including Hickey).. Didn't hear much at all about Juulsen actually..
