At this point I'm not so sure Ortio wouldn't clear waivers. His AHL stats are good but not great and if the the guy was that good surely Hartley would have the confidence to play him. Don't forget the team that claims Ortio has to have him penciled in as their backup.

They would have put him on waivers already if they thought he would not get claimed. I do think if he does not get game action soon, he will clear waivers. The guy is not even getting full practice days.

In my opinion Ramo clears 100%, Hiller and Ortio about 95% chance of clearing.
I could see say a Buffalo taking a shot at Hiller until Lehner is back because he has proven he can be an NHL starter and Pegula doesn't seem to care about money. They could then waive him or keep him up. Maybe another teams starter goes down and Hiller could provide them with an option for the year.
With Ortio I don't see any team that would need him on their NHL roster, especially after Tokarski cleared waivers who at worst is equal and with his NHL time is likely looked at as a better option.
Ramo I can't see how anybody would want him. He hasn't shown he can be a starter, has been worse than Hiller the past two years, doesn't have upside potential like an Ortio and has a bad contract. He should clear easily.

My estimate would see a 0% chance of Hiller beig claimed with having almost 2 years left on his contract and also being the older of the 3 and the least talent. I believe there is a greater than 50% chance that Ramo gets claimed as he has imo more skill than Hiller and less than 1 year on his contract. I believe there is a greater than 90% chance that Ortio would get claimed which would be a real shame as he has proven to be an excellent draft choice with very good potential. I would feel very comfortable with Ramo and Ortio. I will never forget the wonderfull goaltending he supplied in game 6 against Vancouver. He gave us our first playoff series victory in many years along with of course a great effort from all of his team mates. If Hiller was left in goal that game after allowing 3 goals in 10 minutes not a chance we would have clinched the series.

I'd target one of Blues goalies. Elliott or Allen.

St. Louis is in the exact same situation as Calgary where they can't decide on one goalie, except their two guys are much better than Calgary's two guys. There's no deal to be made between these two teams if it's for a goalie.

To me it's simple. Hiller and Ramo aren't getting it done so SWITCH it up.
Start Oreo next game.

Hiller's contract is up at the end of this season.

I kind of hope Ortio goes through waivers and gets claimed just so we wouldn't have to endure that god awful nickname.

A little off topic but I would like to suggest anyone who comes up with or tries to force an awful nickname as well as those that write up fan fiction-esque discussions between management and/or players be banned immediately.

I guess BT has earned the benefit of the doubt, but I'm surprised that it's October 19th and this situation is still an issue and actually becoming worse (given performance). Make a decision already.

I'd be pleased if they put Ramo on waivers.
I'd be over the moon with happiness if he was claimed.

I know one thing. Be it Hiller or Ramo every time the opposing team skates over the Flames blue line I cringe.

The only reason Hiller doesn't get claimed over the other two is his salary. Your opinion as to ability is (a) yours and (b) probably not that of the pro scouts around the league. I'd bet a substantial amount he's rated higher on other teams' charts than Ramo. Hiller's stats are better, he has way more experience, he's been an All-Star, he has more of a rep as a playoff goalie and the age difference is not great.

Hello Mr. Ortio welcome to Purgatory, of which escape is impossible. This is how we manage Finnish talent. Feel free to scream, no one will hear you.

I hope Hartley doesn't go back to his old ways of being super biased towards vets and super against putting young guys in the line-up. We are still a rebuilding team that needs to develop it's rookies. If we make the playoffs, it should be due to the young guys propelling us forward, not from Hartley squeezing every last bit of energy from the veteran players.
