Monahan did it last year at 20 so not sure why you are so absolutely certain in your opinion. Bennett is likely to engage more physically and be considered grittier than Monahan. Just not sure why you would say that would be such a soft line?
Monahan was a year and a half in before they put that line together
I wouldn't put any stock in combinations. Hartley said in the scrum that he is looking for twosomes that will stick together. Johnny and Mony are a duo that will be sticking though for the time being. Hudler and Bennett seem to have some chemistry so that's another duo that may stick. The 3rd player on each line will likely cycle through until there is synergy on the line.
I could see any of Colborne, Jones, Frolik, and Jooris be paired with Gaudreau and Monahan over the course of the camp to see if anything is there.

Bennett was great with Hudler. Arnold was very good as was Jooris. Gaudreau was good as usual. Monahan hasn't been quite as noticeable. Colborne and Jones look very good, and fast. Hamilton is awesome...
Didn't Monahan also have a very quiet camp last year? I'm not at all concerned about how he shows before the season starts. He was the Flames best forward out of the gate in 2014.

Yes, I'm not worried.
The only person that is concerning in any way is Gio with his shot. The rest of his game is good though, even if his shot is lacking for the time being.

Is it the hardness? The release? What's looking off about it?
Ryan Wilson from what I've watched thus far is deserving of a contract and maybe a roster spot alongside Brodie. He has looked better than Engelland thus far.

Would you sign him ahead of Wotherspoon getting the spot?

I'm sure it'll be a while before he builds full strength back up in his arm, the good thing is that we've got Russell and Brodie who can QB the left side on the PP until Gio is 100%.

On a worrying note, Gio's shot is not good at all. He might be 100%, but that shot is not, at least during the camp thus far. No strength on it and his wrister is limp compared to what it was.

I haven't noticed Spoon at all. I didn't even know what group he was in, that's not good. I'll specifically look for him tomorrow to see exactly what he's doing.

Winger version of Backlund. Pretty good. Can't wait to see him in game action. The line of Bouma-Backs and Frolik looked great out there. If that sticks, that'll be one hell of a 3rd line.

Been waiting since camp started for a verdict of Wilson, so much thanks.
From the sounds of it, he's been so far as advertised - a big, hard-hitting d-man who is a real team-centered guy. I'd like to think of him as this year's version of Raphael Diaz, who was very serviceable on the bottom pairing. Could switch out with Engelland depending on opponent.
But the Flames badly, BADLY need that open-ice hitter to make opposing forwards paranoid about carrying in.
