So it is bigoted and judgemental for a christian to not agree with someone being gay, but it's not bigoted and judgemental for you to fire a christian, or any other religious person, because you don't agree with it?

Welcome to 2015, the time when hating Christians openly is socially acceptable.

Apparently we have the same lynch mob mentality and bigotry, we just have a different target now.
Our evolution is enlightening

The poor, persecuted Christians of Canada. It's a national tragedy.

Some dumbass getting fired from his bus driving job is almost exactly the same as a lynching.

You repeatedly suggested that The City was requiring you to operate the Pride Bus and that you would lose your job if you refused.

No one ever asked you to operate the Pride Bus and you were specifically advised that you would not be assigned the Pride Bus as part of your work.

You identified yourself as a Calgary Transit employee in connection with your Facebook profile page where you have posted Nazi-related content which is abhorrent and contrary to the values The City promotes,” states the letter.

It was a depiction of a rainbow flag with a swastika in the centre and the word “homofacism” written on it, he said.

He also posted a second photo referencing Nazism, meant to convey a similar message, he said.

I would not say hate, but I feel anyone religious should be open to being mocked and dismissed for being the ridiculous people they are. The notion that we should respect their absurd fantasy stories is preposterous. Instead of placating these people we should be striving for rational thought, acceptance and scientific education. Time to leave these delusional tales in the past or more accurately in a cave where they belong.

And to spin that around. It's OK for the religious to hate people for their sexual preferences, but it's not OK to hate those people for their bigoted beliefs.

I find that equally enlightening.

I find it amazing how narrow minded some people can be while trying to promote open mindedness.

With the rationale, of course, that 'MY thoughts are RIGHT though.'

If you hate people solely because they are gay and for no other reason, and I do not. You are wrong, and I am right.

They pose zero threat to you or anyone else based on what type of genitals they prefer to touch.

Some people think all black people should still be slaves.

That's a perfectly acceptable opinion, stop being so narrow-minded.

It's not that people hate Christians. They just don't like what they preach in certain circumstances. Plus, everywhere you go Christianity is put on display. Who wants to see that? Hey, I have plenty of friends and co-workers who are Christian and I have no problem with them. But what they do doesn't align with my beliefs, so I don't think they should do it.

Christianity isn't a specific religion. Catholicism is, Anglicanism is. Christianity is not. And I disagree vehemently that they are pure delusional tales. There are overlaps between religions, the story of the great floods go all the way back to Sumeria and the earliest civilizations.

Stories that are entrenched not in one culture but in the entire story of human history. I'm not saying they are true but the interrelated nature of these stories is fascinating and tell stories about human nature or events that occurred and have been misconstrued over time. These stories are based on something because of how common certain archetypes are in so many different religions.

I'm no religious man myself but the stories are generally esoteric in nature, the story about the snake, Adam and Eve and the tree of life relate directly to other stories in other religions and folklore.

The tree of life is a concept that's been in human spirituality for millenia, a set of sephirot that contains information about the micro and macrocosm aspects of consciousness. I've studied these things for decades and dismissing the entirety of spirituality and esoteric knowledge dismisses fundamental parts of culture in our past and present and ultimately will lead you to a path of ignorance due to the significance these concepts have played and still do play in human history.

I've been thinking the same thing reading this thread. The comment about firing a religious person was this tongue in cheek? I don't think so but if not that person just became the thing they hate.

I have no issues if anyone wants to believe something that's absolutely ridiculous to me. And I would hope it goes the other way as well. But once those beliefs tread into hatred of any group, that's where I leave "live and let live" at the door.

Religion can bring a lot of good to this world, unfortunately, blind judgement of others is where it loses it's credibility.

This word "hate", it gets thrown around a lot. "I hate Mondays" "I hate Broccoli" " I hate school" "I hate (insert TV show)" "I hate the Canucks" "I hate the Oilers" "I hate my boss" "I hate Women" "I hate Men" "I hate Muslims" "I hate Christians" "I hate Atheists" "I hate Nigg#rs" "I hate Ch#nks" "I hate Fa#gots" "I hate anyone who doesn't think the same way I do" There is so much of the word hate being bandied around that the word has lost it's meaning. It's co-opted into whatever narrative anyone wants to spin. Actual real visceral hatred is a far cry from OMG, I hate those socks, they do not go well with my shoes"
