Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
Other than the fat lip, #Flames Sean Monahan said that he wasn't bothered by an injury in #StanleyCupPlayoffs.

Well that's a little disheartening about Monahan...
He's only 20, but that's a big drop in play between the regular season and playoffs.

Have to think some of these guys are still hiding a few things. Some guys aren't as open as others. That being said, he played against the top lines and was as close to smothered as a guy can get during the playoffs.

Edit: There we go, admits he hurt his leg

Monahan admitted to an injury after being pressed:

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
#Flames Sean Monahan said he didn’t suffer an injury during the playoffs. On second attempt, admitted his leg was hurt in the stretch drive.

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
Leg injury for Monahan sustained in the regular season. #Flames

Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
#Flames Monahan clarifies statement about injury...wasn't injured IN playoffs, injured leg in regular season, played through it in playoffs.

Should respect a player's right to privacy when the lower body diagnosis is "nuts of steel".

Even if he's not injured (I don't really believe him), he's only 20 years old and it was his first playoff run. The Ducks had Kesler out against him every chance they got, hate him as much as you want but Kesler is a damn good two way forward.

Early in the Vancouver series his line was asked to check the Sedins, and his offence suffered. Plus their D keyed on him. It was a lot like his drop in goals early this season when he was concentrating on checking.

In the Anaheim series I thought he was much better, but still had his hands full with the tight checking. Kesler was given the role of checking that line and did a great job.

Keep in mind Monahan played with the 67's when he was literally the only good player on the team.

For Gaudreau, he has experience in the NCAA where he had to step up his game when it came to games that mattered.

Monahan will learn from this year's playoffs and will become a better player.

I'm not sure I completely believe that. There must have been something other than bumps and bruises, otherwise how do you explain a guy disappearing so quickly after being so dominant only a few games prior. We all know he's a much better faceoff man than what he showed in the playoffs, even against guys like Kesler, Getzlaf, etc..

Considering his workload since then this is nothing short of astonishing. Wow.

Yeah Monahan slowed down after hitting 30 goals. it was pretty obvious. Gaudreau and Hudler kept going full steam until that LA game when something clearly happened to Hudler. that point on it was just Gaudreau playing 100%.

If the team was this good injured, think of how good they would have been healthy!

Wonder what exactly Monahan's leg injury consisted of, hopefully something that gets better with rest.

Hard to believe he is only 20 by looking at him. He's is going to be a monster once he hits his prime.

Depending on Hudler, the Flames came out less battered than the Jets.
