Have zero problem with what Prust said, as long as it's the truth.

Broke the code? Eff that. What code says he has to take abuse from officials. If the words went the other way around he'd be looking a lot worse than he received. Does anyone here really think a back-door formal complaint from Prust would have yielded any sort of action from the league on the ref? He may get fined, but at least the ref is exposed. I imagine that's all he cares about, especially if it's common with this ref as he suggests.

I think that's the point though... whether it's selfish. Is it good, bad or nothing at all - for the team, not just for him.
But who knows - Habs seem to thrive on controversy, and maybe it's just what they need... because they sure need something.

Yeah fair enough.

I just think, with the professionalism usually displayed by players and coaches when discussing referees, that there is obvious frustration with a lack of accountability for referees as compared to players and coaches. It's not a wonder that someone might blow up every now and again and I have a tough time blaming them. Especially given the things allegedly said to him. You expect it from a fellow player, not from an official who is supposed to be composed and impartial.

Montreal is never going to win anything with Therrien as coach. That team is imploding.

The first rule of Fix Club is: you do not talk about Fix Club!

You do not mention "game management".

You never speak of Stephane Auger.

The league will do to Prust what it did to Burrows - make an example of him and his team for years.

Repeat after me, the NHL is not fixed.

The NHL is not fixed.

Keep saying that and you'll believe it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go and place some money on a professional wrestling match.

Of course he is. He probably just got a complimentary league sponsored colonoscopy.

After game 2: Prust says he wasn't even looking at Watson and only repeated "yeah, ok".

Before game 3: "We had a heated exchange".

I'm just shocked by this change in memory.

He did say before that he let him know his displeasure on the way to the box. He could be referring to that.

Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Brandon Prust fined $5,000 for comments about referee Brad Watson following Game 2.

Quote:
Montreal Canadiens forward Brandon Prust has been fined $5,000 for derogatory public comments directed toward Referee Brad Watson during his post-game media availability on Sunday, May 3, the National Hockey League announced today.

"Brandon Prust's post-game comments were both baseless and demeaning of a referee whose 20-year career in the League has been marked by professionalism, integrity and a high degree of respect from players, coaches and management," said NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell.

Prust should have kept his yap shut. No good could come of going public with it, and now he got fined 5,000 bucks.

And nothing for the sideshow toss of the elbow pad - though I suppose that's what the misconduct was for last game?

Prust apologizes to ref Brad Watson. Colin Campbell comes out defending Watson, after some inquiry. Makes me reconsider my stance. Looks like Prust was just being a tool. If Watson was out of line and swearing at you, then you shouldn't apologize. I doubt this is a giant coverup for Watson.

Regulation-time goals for Montreal in the playoffs: 4, 2, 1, 0, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1. More than two goals only once, and that had more to do with the bloom coming off of Andrew Hammond's rose than anything the Habs did that night.

There is simply not enough skill on this team. Get rid of some of these grinders, and if Therrien doesn't like it, he can hit the ol' dusty trail himself.

Oh my..............god. Tampa scores with less than a second left.

Poor Habs, that's gotta sting.
