When we got off to that fantastic start, the momentum could have been completely lost following the Leafs PPG and then the five minute major. That could have been a real game changer,. But these guys are incredible., because in those five minutes shorthanded, they put the game away.
That pass to Monahan from Brodie was just beautiful.
We needed to win this, but we won it in such a way it puts us in as good a physical shape as you could hope for the second game of a back to back.
A great job all round.

I'm sure I haven't seen nearly as much hockey games as most of you did, but that Brodie pass on Monahan's shorty is the best hockey pass I've ever seen!
It made me make dirty sounds.

I've been losing A LOT of sleep over this freaking team this season. There was a time before the rebuild where staying up/getting up for Flames games didn't interest me a lot, but this season and also last season, our team has been so much fun that I'm more than happy to forego a couple of hours of sleep. Like yesterday ... I was out with friends, came home at around midnight and thought "well, the Flames have a game in an hour ... might as well watch one period". And of course, I went on to watch the whole game again. Just a fun team playing the right way. This is already a promising team, and the thought of adding Sam Bennett next season makes me giggle like a schoolgirl. Exciting times
As for the Leafs, I was shocked. They are doomed, I don't think they can salvage this mess quickly. Edmonton part 2. Their first period was the most pathetic period of hockey I've seen in a very long time. I feel the Flames could have made it to double digits if they had wanted to, but obviously it was great to save some energy for today's game. If you can spread the minutes like the Flames did yesterday, it's huge. Russell/Wideman played 5 minutes less than usual.

Wow. I guess my prediction of the Flames scoring 4 goals was a little conservative.

I have to agree there the Leafs didn't even want to win this one shocking lack of work ethic. They will have to get rid of their leadership and try and get some people in who can show their young guys the right way to play. Reilly seeing these guys float around the ice can't be good for his development especially as someone who need to learn the defensive game. Kessel and Phaneuf are dropping their value with their lack of character showing through.

Just watched the highlights from the Leafs site and Chris Cuthbert was doing the play by play on their broadcast on TSN. I sure do miss his calls of Flames games. My favorite commentator by far!!

That penalty by Bouma was stupid, but it wasn't five minute major stupid. Quality Original Six officiating there. The hockey gods corrected that for us though.
Also, I'm not sure who was booing Phaneuf louder - our fans or their fans.

For me the way Monahan received the best pass was a thing of beauty. Just unbelievable talent.

Dion has turned into a complete pansy, not only does he not give a crap but hes down to just yelling at the refs the whole game, he may as well just wear a striped jersey.
Phaneuf isnt a pylon, hes a turnstyle, and an expensive one at that.
If someone gave me the choice of having either Phaneuf or Stajan on my team I'd take Stajan without hesitation.

There is no clean hit that can result from extending your knee regardless of which point actually ends up making contact (skate, leg, or knee).

If you mean lunged to try to get out of the way you are correct. If you actually think he lunged then I don't think you have watched a single replay.

And I still think Ian White would be amazing on this team and upgrade over Rafa Diaz (who fwiw has been a rock since February)

Watching the highlights this morning, there is the one play where Johnny had a partial breakaway down the left side and his shot was stopped by Reimer.
The initial breakout pass was in his feet, but the way he brought the puck up to his stick, basically without breaking stride or losing any speed was pretty impressive.
I know that is exhibit W of why he is awesome, but you see so many players mishandle a bad breakout pass or the speed they lose allows the defender to close on them. Johnny just kicks it up like it aint no thang.
