Let by-gones be by-gones. Does not matter what we paid for him (ie first round pick), it is what he is worth now. I am sure if someone would have paid more for him, he would have gone for more.

I suspected Baertschi would end up traded. Too many LWers passing him in the org. I just wish he had been packaged with Glencross for a young upgrade on D or FWD.

I really liked Sven and always thought maybe he would work out these last couple years. I really hate that a player I want to see succeed is going to Vancouver.
Treliving you could have traded (almost) any other Flames other than the few obvious ones, and I would have been fine.

Great move by Treliving. At the start of the year I was hoping that we might be able to rally him into a defensive prospect but he completely #### the bed this year, driving his value into the dumpster. Getting a 2nd rounder for a kid that hasn't been able to score at the AHL level is a miracle. Baertschi has been trending in the wrong direction since he left junior hockey. I wish Calgary fans would get over the numbers he put up three years ago. Those numbers don't mean squat. In 67 NHL games he has a meager 8 goals. In the AHL he had 31 goals in 97 games, over three seasons! He isn't a NHL player. We got a 2nd round pick for a player the Canucks will be forced to keep on their roster next season, or lose him on waivers to some talent strapped team like Phoenix or Edmonton. Win-win.

I'm not upset about the return its been clear for a while now that baertschi was not in this teams long term plans. However he still does have the potential to burn us for the next decade. Doubt it happens but it's a definite possibility

Baertschi needs to play top 6 to be effective and hasn't shown signs of being that. A 2nd is good value on a depreciating asset in my opinion.
