They just seem cheaper because they use a bunch of new fangled crap like veneer cabinets, and veneer stone, and chinese lights, and laminate floors, and everything else that is mass produced at minimal cost. But structurally, there is no comparison. Same with efficiency in every area.

Good point on the cheaper cabinets and lighting.
You can also compare how elevators were built a hundred years ago to how elevators are built now. Were they built with higher quality back then. Not really. They were built with the technology, equipment and know how that was available at that time. Or how old air conditioners or washing machines were built fifty years ago compared to now.
It's like saying the houses in heritage park are built better than the houses in our inner city.
