I thought Ramo played well on his last game and thought he deserves another start. But with Hartley trying to play Hiller against the team he beat at the Saddledome, Ramo did not get the start. I really think Hartley should go back one game in one game out OR if the goalie play well he gets the next start. That gives competition to the two goalies.
Great game tonight. Flames were skating tonight and the ice is not as bad as in Anaheim. When the Flames uses their speed, they have success. Look at that last 4-on-4 with Byron using his speed against Thornton and company. They controlled the puck then Hudler and Brodie came in, the play just continued. I am loving this team and I thought last season the Flames surprised us...this season was even more surprising. Byron, Jones, Hudler, Brodie, Gio, Wideman, Russell were good tonight. Smid was ornery tonight and was very physical. That hit he made on Dillon was great. Of course the star of the show is Karri Ramo. He was very sharp tonight especially on his glove side. The whole league is starting to talk about the Flames in a good way.

San Jose played well. Can't fault them on their compete tonight. But they just didn't feel.. dangerous, through much of the game. And in the tank they'd almost always have you gripping your seat. But not tonight. Noticed they've been weaker this season by most accounts. It's as if someone neutered their offense. It's weird seeing Marleau, Thornton, Couture, Hertl, Pavelski out there NOT being able to score..
Oh well. The Sharks' reign of consecutive playoff choke jobs is over. The Flames' time ... is here.

This is probably why we shouldn't have settled on a starter two weeks into the season.
Just sayin. #healthycompetition

This team is convincing me. In multitudes of years past we would have lost 5-2 on a goddamned Patrick Marleau Hat trick. There's absolutely no quit in this team and the skill is evident. If they can keep up the effort and the skills keep developing (See Gaudreau, Johnny), Holy crap, this is gonna be a good team!
Loving life as a Flames fan :-).

I think they're gonna walk all over the Yotes in the home and home. If they can shut down the Sharks in the tank then the desert dogs don't stand a chance, especially with the confidence that's flowing with this team right now. Should be fun watching Doan and Smith cry on saturday.

Just finished watching the game.
Great team effort and TJ Brodie and Ramo were awesome.
They played a smart road game and I can't remember the last time they played that well in San Jose. Usually the Flames are hemmed in their own zone running around, but not tonight.

i think ramo definitely deserves the next start.
Another fun game to watch. It wasn't the prettiest thing in the world, but they got 2 points, and played well enough where it wouldn't be considered "stealing 2 points".

My favourite part is you'll have the eastern contingent of hockey writers that will read a post like this and laugh at the idea of Calgary having Norris candidates.
What they're accomplishing together is hard to find parallels for in recent times, and if it was happening in a major market you wouldn't be able to stay away from coverage of it.
I hope it stays that way.

Previous Flames teams have played to the level of their opponents. Time to break the mold

Does this mean that Ramo starts the next game as well? I'd say he earned it.

We've only had one ugly loss early season against the Blues. Tampa game we were still in it in the third. I can't think of any other game where we weren't in it. Also ppl will look at PDO and us being outshot last night, you know what I'm thinking....In the opening minutes of the game Gaudreau missed a wide open net cuz he couldn't get lift on the puck, Money had that semi breakaway, from that beatuy pass from Brodie, Niemi made a nice stop. Also Baertschi hit the crossbar on that in tight backhand. Sure Ramo played great and Wideman saved a goal by hitting the ice but we could have easily had three more goals. Wouldn't surprise me if we outchanced them.
Loving and believing in this team so much now. Love the win but all I'm thinking is we lost two points in Anaheim, a game we should have won. I know I should be happy with the win but this team is that good and never stops fighting, we can beat any team!

Even more impressive than that is they are +12 and +14 respectively. I know +/- isn't the greatest stat but when the next three players behind them are -7, -1, and 0 it makes it even more impressive imo

Who records these stats anyway?
During the 3rd period they said the shots were 5-0 Sharks. Didn't Sven put one off the cross bar just before that?
Awesome game. I loved watching Byron take the puck away from Big Joe.
Brodie is on fire. At one point he had 2 sharks on him on the boards and he comes away with the puck and makes a great pass out of our zone.

Hitting the post, while literally a shot on the goal, it's not a shot on goal.
