It's only Sportsnet Flames but it is completely unprofessional, and frankly unacceptable. You can pay billions for the rights, yet can fix this?

One thing I noticed yesterday is that when Hextall, kypreos and whoever else sit at the desk their chairs are either set too high or the desk is too low. They can't even get their knees to slide under the desk. The quality of that desk appears to be pretty low as well considering the amount of money they spent on that studio. Between third and OT, Kypreos was talking about something and to emphasize his point he was pushing and hitting the top of the desk and it looked like it was going to break.

If Sportsnet seems disinterested in fixing their audio issue, maybe we need to start complaining about it to the Flames themselves. See if the team can exert some pressure on our behalf.

The sound quality in the studio doesn't even appear to be professional grade. Damian Cox's voice could be heard bouncing off whatever poor acoustics they've arranged in studio. At times he sounded like someone talking in an auditorium. What a joke.

I just wish they would turn the crowd noise level up a bit more. I hate it sounding like 11 people are in the crowd.

Complaining will accomplish nothing because you're going to watch anyways right? The only true way to complain is to not watch. But Sportnet is not spending money if they don't have to after bidding against themselves in the TV deal and wildly overpaying. If you complain and still watch, Sportsnet isn't going to care. If the ratings drop considerably? Then you've got their attention.

Like others have mentioned, my only real gripe is the audio syncing problem. I have a soundbar thingy on one of my TVs, and it actually lets you compensate for a difference in the audio in 25 millisecond increments. I find that I need to adjust it by 100-125 milliseconds to get it right. All other programs are always perfectly in sync without any adjustment.

Maybe I am mistaken, but in previous years, the commentary seemed to be ahead of the action, but the on-ice sounds seemed to be in sync. This season, the on-ice sounds are horribly off.

I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to broadcasts. I think that we lucked out with Ball and Hrudey, and I skip much of the talking heads during the intermission anyway. But that audio syncing issue is just so obvious, yet it is impossible for a viewer to ignore. If they fix anything, they need to do that first.

I think the bigger problem is that you're listening to Damien Cox talking. Fortunately the mute button solves that issue pretty quick for me.

During the last two broadcasts I've found Kypreos' commentary to be much better. Less bombast, better content and much more balance. He's schooling Cox, who still sounds like a clueless eastern clown. Props to Kypreos for upping his game.

the audio thing is annoying though, and the HD on CBC was much better. SN need to invest in better hardware.

I must be developing hearing issues because I don't even notice the out of sync commentary

All I really care about is what the hell happened to the ref cams. Was it a one time thing? Did they rent them only for the first day of the season? Do the refs refuse to wear them? Did they all break? That was so cool and now they are gone and I'm sad.

Leah HextallS need to be removed as game host of Flames broadcasts.

Eye candy can only take you so far when you pronounce 'Calgary' like a foreign tourist and your monotone voice puts the viewer to sleep.

I found the audio issue especially annoying during the shootout.
Knowing the result a half second before seeing the action was frustrating.

Yup...said this during the game. She drives me nuts and saying Cal-Gary just drives me around the bend even more.

Yeah, she's not the best, and not the greatest eye candy in any case.

Just chiming in to say that I think Kypreos is great on the panel and that I really enojoy his contributions to the discussion.

I am curious as to why they hired a rookie like this Hextall gal, when they could have went with the much more experienced Andi Petrillo? Not a huge gripe over this, the audio is a much bigger concern.

Leah Hextall might be new to Sportsnet but she isn't a broadcasting rookie by any stretch.

Kypreos is better than Healy, but that is setting the bar extremely low. Why that idiot is on TV or radio is beyond me.

The ref cam thing is apparently an online only app that is available exclusively to Rogers customers. Bell filed a complaint to the CRTC about this. So if you have GCL but don't have a Rogers account, you are SOL. Tell me again how having a monopoly is working for the fans.

I believe the ref cams are used on Saturday nights and provide replays to the main broadcast (Leafs game) HNIC on tv.
