That's amazing considering the start

Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyk was higher last year and the year before (0.941 and 0.952). Gillies has him beat this year though

Edit: oops, Hellebuyk is on St John's this year (AHL). 0.927 is pretty impressive for a 21 year old in the AHL

Providence College men's hockey junior goaltender Jon Gillies (South Portland, Maine) has been named a nominee for the 2015 Mike Ricter Award, which honors the most outstanding goaltender in NCAA Div. I.

The second annual Mike Ricter Award, which announced its official list of 28 nominees on Feb. 27, is presented by Let's Play Hockey and the Herb Brooks Foundation. The award will be presented by Mike Ricter at the 2015 Frozen Four (Boston, Mass.).

Gillies, who was also nominated for the 2014 Mike Ricter Award, finished the 2014-15 regular season with a 19-11-2 overall record, a 2.00 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage to go along with four shutouts. His 2.00 goals-against average ranks 12th in the nation (fifth amongst goaltenders with at least 1,800 minutes played) and his save percentage also ranks 12th in the country.

In Hockey East play, Gillies posted a 12-8-1 record and led the league in goals-against average (1.74) and save percentage (.939). His GAA is tied for the seventh best goals-against average in the single season Hockey East record book, while his save percentage is the sixth-best mark in league history.

Gillies and the Friars finished the regular season with a 21-11-2 record (13-8-1 HEA) and tied for second in the Hockey East standings. After a first round bye, No. 2 seeded Providence will host a best-of-three quarterfinal series at Schneider Arena on March 13-15.

Hockey East tournament

Both Providence (Janko, Gillies, Gilmour) and BU (Hickey) earned a bye in the first week.

They await the winners of the first round for a best of 3 series that will run from March 13 to 15.

ECAC tournament

Colgate (Harrison) also earned a bye from the first round. Will also start their first tournament game next weekend.

Big 10 tournament

Michigan State (DeBlouw)

Big 10 tournament doesn't start until March 19 as there are only 6 teams in that conference.

They are currently just playing inter-conference games until the tournament starts.

However, DeBlouw did get an assist, 3 SOG, and went 7-1 in faceoffs in a 3-0 win over Wisconsin last night.

Not directly related to any of the Flames prospects (although, it will impact who BU and PC play next week), UMass and Notre Dame played the longest game in NCAA Hockey history on Friday night: http://www.hockeyeastonline.com/men/...p?mndmuma1.m06

The game finally ended with UMass winning in the 5th OT period after 151 minutes and 42 seconds of playing time at 1:24 am ET. The Notre Dame goalie set an NCAA record, stopping 87 of the 91 shots he faced.

After that marathon, the two teams have to do it all over again tonight, with game 2 of the best-of-three going at 7:30 pm ET, and if ND can win it, they have to play again on Sunday night.

UMass was the lowest-ranked team in HockeyEast this season, so if they win, they will play BU next week.

Petersen is a Sabres draft pick.

Two of the HockeyEast first round playoffs have ended, and two will be decided tomorrow. New Hampshire and Merrimack have advanced. Notre Dame and UMass will play on Sunday, as will Vermont and Maine.

If UMass wins, BU will play UMass and Providence will play Merrimack regardless of who wins between Vermont and Maine.

If Notre Dame wins, BU will play Merrimack and Providence's opponent will be determined by the winner of Vermont and Maine. A Maine win will see PC face Maine. A Vermont win will lead to PC playing against New Hampshire.

In the ECAC, Colgate will host Dartmouth next week.

In all cases, the Flames' picks' teams will host a best-of-three series next weekend, with the winners advancing to their conference's final four.

A conference championship is a guaranteed invite to the NCAA Tournament, but there are 10 additional teams invited as well. BU and PC should both be safe for a tournament invite even if they don't win their conference, but Colgate and Michigan State will both need to win their conferences to get invited.

Providence had a 1-1 record against New Hampshire this season: A 1-0 victory, and a 2-1 loss. Both games were played in New Hampshire.

BU had a 1-0-1 record against Merrimack this season: A 4-2 win at BU and a 1-1 tie at Merrimack.

Colgate had a 1-0-1 record against Dartmouth this season: A 3-0 victory at Dartmouth and a 2-2 tie at Colgate.

Michigan State is currently the top ranked team in the Big 10 Conference, with a final two game set this weekend against Michigan (#2 in the Big 10). They've already played 2 games against Michigan earlier this season, and they split the two games. Another split should be good enough to keep them in at least second place. If they can stay #1 or 2, they'll get a bye to the Conference Quarter-finals.

No way, I want him spending all next season playing #1 D minutes + #1 PP minutes. Right now that (very solid BTW) Bruins prospect has been taking those top minutes.

You can watch Hickey on TSN 2 right now.

#4 in white.

BU is dressing 5 dmen and 13 forwards... should be interesting game for him

Hickey with some great PK work too. Blocking shots, punishing forwards in the crease and along the boards, and clearing it

He's so solid out there. Outside of Eichel he's really the most smooth skater too
