To be fair, we don't have a pick in the 4th or 5th rounds where he's probably valued at, and a 6th / 7th is likely too low. The 3rd is all we had.
Vancouver gave a 3rd for Dorsett yesterday, so it's not like we're the only ones doing this type of trade.
I just wonder what David Wolf thinks. His job just got A LOT harder to secure.

A late 3rd round pick in a weak draft is not a key pick.

Richer?
They got a late 3rd round pick. I am sure the Bruins and Kings are shaking in their boots about facing the hawks in the play-offs after that major addition.

Not only is he awful, he can't even fight.
Guaranteed whipping boy in 3 months.

At first I wasn't happy with the trade but I was please to see that Bollig played every single game for the Hawks this year. Quite impressive for a 4th line grinder on a top tier team. Big improvement on Westgarth.
He's sign to a very reasonable contract as well. I just hope he's happy to come to the Flames after signing long term with the Blackhawks. I wouldn't be happy if I was him.

Its barely over the vet minimum.
He has the same contract as guys like Kaleta, McLeod, Condra, Reeves. 4th line guys who can play a bit...
Their fans are elated because they are over the cap, need to move guys and are worried about losing Sharp, Hossa, Seabrook, etc.

An awful lot of overvaluing of what a third round pick will bring.
he isnt a goon. He is a grinder who fights. A bigger eric nystrom and he has a cup ring. He can also take a regular shift.
with the likely introduction of another two or three rookies on the team next season, with hm monahan still there, we need our role players to be able to play nasty.
quite frankly this move gives us better opportunity to develop our existing prospects than anyone we could have picked

The Chicago coaching (who is pretty decent) thought that he helped the team enough to play him 10 mins a game. I think i will take their opinion over random internet Hawks fans.

Pretty sure David Wolf knew he was going to the AHL regardless of this move or not.

I won't lead anything. I wasn't one of the usuals going after Butler and Galiardi.

yeah, but he wasn't indispensable was he?
if he was such a 'glue guy' in the room and important to the Hawks on the ice, you'd think they could have found other salary to shed no?
as it stands, barring any additional trades, he was jettisoned by the Hawks because he was deemed the most expendable, having their hand force by the cap.
Chris Simon? He was a guy with a ton of skill... and sadly a drinking problem. the only way Bollig sees 30 goals like Simon did for the Caps is if you count 4 seasons...

Yeah, Westgarth, Wolf, Bollig. Hopefully Gaudreau can bounce a couple of goals in off their asses.
There's a reason why the Flames 4th line was one of the worst in the league last year.

This isn't a fantasy team, you can't just have small skilled forwards.
At the end of the day it might have been a bit overpayment but realistically what would we have gotten with that 3rd round pick? A late 3rd round pick, in a weak draft.

Ill make a different prediction:
Based upon your outrageous comments and critiques, vs Bollig's fan friendly style of play,
I predict you will become the whipping boy within 3 months
