During the Q and A, Conroy looked like he was given the keys to the city. His face was all business. He looked like a boss.

Really impressed with this management team - how far they have come in a year is incredible.

Lots of experience from many different areas. Great people. VERY hard workers. And passionate guys.

I couldn't be happier with the group.

I believe that this group has what it takes to go the extra mile to make that little difference that separates good from great.

Well done, Brian Burke and Ken King.
Eh.

To my ears this is premature in Oileresque proportions. Pretty much the exact equivalent of calling their prospects future stars before they've actually done anything.

Let's see them actually get us among the best teams in the league first. Or at least above the playoff line.

"Promising" management team that could "potentially" be best in the league is more Calgary-esque.

Flames are building a quality hockey IQ management team.

Congrats to conroy! He's earned it for sure... Continues to represent this organization so well. He's a great asset to this team and city.

Looks like there are some young and bright minds in the management room for the Flames. Let's see where they take the team, hopefully into the playoffs and beyond. Congrats to Conroy first of all, well deserving of the promotion. Dude worked hard as the Special Assistant to the GM and was rewarded. Pascall seems like a great architect with younger players and hope he does well with the youth in the organization.

I'm really pleased for Craig Conroy. He's the kind of guy you want on the phone, buttering up potential free agents and trade partners.

I like the addition of Pascall; another promising young executive with a pedigree and close ties to Hockey Canada. He and Treliving presided over a LOT of gold medals... The task is a bit different in the NHL, but with some luck I think they'll turn out alright.

It really feels like a new era has begun.

I was expecting Treliving to name one more AGM but two works well also. Pascall sounds and looks like a good addition. We'll have lots of quality people running the hockey side and congrats to Conroy, I think he deserved it.

Now the focus shifts from Burke letting Treviling make the call at the draft table, to how much say does Pascall get with Treliving. The man has seen 100s of Canadian kids flow from U18 to U20 (or just as importantly disappear off the map when that progression should have happened).

I'm guessing he has a great book on this draft but also a different view on warning signs in development.

Not at all.

With draft picks, you have to wait and see which ones turn out - that's just the nature of the game and you don't want to count your chickens, as the saying goes.

However, assessing good management teams is a different matter. I will buy a stock based on the management team anyday. TOU is a good example.

Whether or not they ever build a winner, we'll have to wait and see. But it is still possible to look at a management group and assess - in advance - whether they are more or less likely to do so.

I expect him to be consulted but not in a major way for this year's draft. The Flames final scouting meetings were held first week of May, just after Treliving was hired.

I'm confused why Holditch was there? According to the presser, nothing has changed for him? This guy is always an afterthought in these press conferences and yet he's been with the org for 20 years. The most mysterious man in Calgary.
