Watch the Rays make the playoffs anyways despite this move. Wouldn't shock me even slightly, Maddon is a hell of a manager.

I'm happy for Franklin. Florida kid and was expendable with Cano signing.
He can hit, young and a lot potential. Safeco, as with many a hitter, really affected his confidence.
Mariners desperately need help in the OF. Jackson is a major upgrade and breaks up a very lefty oriented team.
Definitely happy we still have Paxton and Walker as well. I approve.

Careful all, you can apparently get tossed for waving your hand. Context/history goes back a decade b/w the two and ump called out for missing some obvious strike calls behind homeplate in Felix's start last night. Still...

MLB with a strange ruling over last night's Giants-Cubs game. The game was called after 4.5 innings with the Cubs leading 2-0, after a long rain delay. The game was long enough for an official Cubs win.
The Giants protested on the grounds that the grounds crew at Wrigley were negligent in covering the field, preventing the game from resuming.
The game will resume Thursday.

Bumgarner perfect through 7 innings . . .
And Morneau hit a double to lead off 8th.

Petit (SF) has retired 42 batters in a row - MLB record is 45 (Buehrle). . .
43
44
45
46
Then the Rockies pitcher hits a two out double.
Petit did it mostly out of the bullpen. Buehrle's streak included a perfect game.

This Paxton guy for the Mariners looks like he could be an okay player.

+1. Surrey boy who throws in the upper 90's from the left side. Similar profile to a certain leftie on the Dodgers. #JustSayin'

Apparently Giancarlo Stanton got drilled in the face by a pitch tonight. Long delay, haven't seen it, but I hate when players are down for a long time after getting nailed by a pitch. Hope he's ok.

Didn't see this, but if it has already been posted I apologize...

Quote:
Orioles slugger Chris Davis was suspended 25 games without pay on Friday following a positive test for an amphetamine, a punishment that will extend into the post-season and perhaps 2015.
|
Quote:
I apologize to my teammates, coaches, the Orioles organization and especially the fans, Davis said in a statement. I made a mistake by taking Adderall. I had permission to use it in the past, but do not have a therapeutic use exemption this year. I accept my punishment and will begin serving my suspension immediately.
Adderall is a drug often used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy, and 119 TUEs were issued for 40-man roster players in the year ending with the 2013 post-season. It is, however, also known as a performance and cognitive enhancer.
Initial positive tests for a banned stimulant result in the player being given an additional six unannounced urine tests over the 12 months following the violation. The 25-game discipline is the penalty for a second positive test

Wow... That's how movies end.
And yes, it's pretty clear the Orioles were going to at least give Jeter a chance to do something on that play, but so what. They've won the division. They're going to the playoffs. Jeter is supremely popular, he got a farewell tour league wide FFS. Nobody would rather win a meaningless game than witness something like that.
Baseball knows how to spin a yarn.

I was at the game last night - what an incredible night. I have been to the old YS and last night approached that special feeling of the old stadium. I got there 2 hours before and the electricity was already off the charts. Needless to say, I can't speak today - onto Boston to catch a game at Fenway Saturday. So worth it to make the trip!!!
