Seems odd because it seems like it would've been picked up by Vietnam radar if it crashed much closer to Ca Mau and the currents took it the rest of the way.
Either way I hope it's the real deal so that the investigation can get underway.

Until they are certain it's in the water? What are our other options here?

More than 100 people signed a hand-written petition that demanded "truth" from the airline. They also urged the Chinese government to help them deal with Malaysian authorities.

From the same article. If readers are wondering why people have such a distrust of Malaysian Airlines, it's because the airline is state owned, which means it is under the authority of a very corrupt government. The distrust from the people to anything the government touches is strong, and I don't blame the people for it. I was born and raised in Malaysia with having the displeasure of experiencing the level of conspiracy and cover up this government has continually churned out.
It is by no means implying that Malaysia Airlines is involved in any sort of conspiracy or cover up, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if there was one.

Paying for plane tickets in cash is a very suspicious behavior in Canada. Not sure if that's the norm in Malaysia though.

Black box beacons are often water-activated and automatically start when the box detects that it has entered the water but only last about 30 days.

I can't find the source, but I read 5 people in total missed the flight.
And that officials confirmed all baggage belonging to those people was removed prior to takeoff.

Wonder if this ship is now searching that area. Hopefully with some massive lights on it, we'll have news soon.

This is getting pretty weird. Tests confirmed that the oil slick was not from an aircraft and the previously seen piece of debris that was thought to be a door was in fact a piece of garbage.
3 days later and not a single piece of anything has been found.

Could it be that they are searching the wrong areas by making the wrong assumptions of the last whereabout of the plane?

Isn't that the area of the latest debris field spotted by aircraft? Also makes sense for that ship, wide open deck, useful for recovery.
