He does have seasons with 28 and 29 goals. Granted they were back in the 90s.

Watching Jarome Iginla in the playoffs is a special treat.

I think his final tally is 32 goals.
Good for Iggy having success and being on a first place team. I don't think the Flames were ever first in their conference this late into a season when he was around, were they? He must be enjoying it. However as much fun as he is having you know how much he wants that Stanley Cup. It will be fun cheering for Boston in the playoffs.

26 goals with 13 games left.
Easily reachable, especially with Iggy

Iggy will play until he is 40 or so. He has publicly stated that a few times. How productive he will be remains to be seen.
As a huge Iginla fan, I still honestly think 700 goals is a stretch. It would have been a no brainer if he didnt miss the 04/05 season due to lockout (would have been at least a 30 goal year probably 40-50 though!). Also half a season last year, he most likely would have finished with 30 or more as well.
That is about 40-60 goals at least knocked off his totals because of lockouts. If he hits 700, he needs to play until he is 40, hitting 30 goals each season. It is possible, but its a stretch.
You can never rule out scoring 30 goals with this guy. He is a goal scorer through and through. He is showing now signs of slowing down from not scoring at least 30. The 50 goal Iggy days are over though. Nonetheless, the guy is a machine! Love the guy.

If he retires at 40, I agree. If he Jagr or Selanne's his retirement, I think 700 is pretty conceivable. 2-3 more 30 goal seasons, followed by 10-20 goal seasons into his mid-40s? Definitely possible, as he's going to end this season with at least 560... if he hits 30 and stops.

Iginla and Boston are on fire right now.
Such a deep team.

I'd love to see a Bruins-Pens matchup again. This time, another sweep with Iggy score in each of the games. And with the final game, Iggy looks to Bylsma and says, "this one's for you! And thank you for puttin' me on the 4th line last season." Or this: "Hey Bylsma. Sorry about what happened. You probably thought I was all washed up last year."
Iggy's too classy for that, but I'd be like LMFAO if that ever happened.

Saw an interesting stat on TSN last night during the leafs/tampa game. From the 09-10 season to now he is 5th in the league in goals during that time. I believe it was Ovechkin, Kessel, Stamkos and possibly Crosby ahead of him. Even with all the talk of him ''regressing'' as he's gotten older, he is still 5th overall in goals since the turn of the last decade, right where he belongs. You can never doubt this guy. Until he proves otherwise, he will ALWAYS be a lock to score at least 30.

I can't see it being Crosby with all the injuries. It was probably Corey Perry.

You can see those totals on quanthockey.com
http://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/seaso...ers-stats.html
Over the last 4 years it's: Stamkos, Ovechkin, Perry, Kessel, Iginla. If you sort it by goals/game he drops from 5th to 13th which really speaks to his durability.

Stamkos with more than .6 goals per game, that is nuts.

Very true. He is definitely under-rated for everything he brings to a team. Not just goal scoring... He's an excellent playmaker, he consistently wins battles along the boards and has even gained some speed in the offseason.
Loved his goal on brodeur the other night. Vintage iginla coming down the right side with a perfectly placed shot off of his one leg... Brings back a lot of memories.
Keep it up iggy! Win a cup for us!

He looks much more like 03/04 Iggy in Boston this year then he did in any of his last 3 seasons in Calgary.
Guess that is what happens when you are just there to be one of the guys and are not depended on to be "The Guy" every night.

I think that if he still hasn't won a cup by 40, he might have the longevity of Selanne, Jagr, etc. and play into his early 40s as long he has the right line mates.

I think he's still depended on to be "The Guy" in that he is one of the offensive engines for that team... Pittsburgh didn't use him properly like the bruins do. They tried to use iginla as a depth guy too much... He didn't even get top powerplay minutes.
But you're right in that he does not have to be the ONLY guy for boston. That's how the bruins are built... They have so many guys that can be counted on to contribute consistently that no one guy gets the brunt of the pressure.
I think that's what made a loss feel so much worse during the last few years with iginla. I felt bad that he got the blame more than anyone else for every loss. He never deserved that.
