Yeah I was off my game this time, usually I'll just open with "I don't need the extended warranty thanks" and that kills it, but this time my mind was elsewhere and I got sucked into the "make them say it 3 times" trap.

Try it.
I just wait until they pull the line 'In case it breaks'
Then go to 'Well if it's going to break then I'm not buying it"
Usually shuts them up. I'm buying a TV not a $100 000 car. I had a guy try and sell me a $30 warranty on a $50 toaster
Lol speaking of warranties and annoying salesmen. The guy at the brick looked to be In tears after I repeatedly told him no after he talked for like half an hour about the warranty. He then cut the price of the warranty from $189.99 to $100 and threw in a bunch of other free stuff just so I'd buy it so I did. Sorry but I'm not paying $200 to insure a $1000.

No, I don't want the extended 9 year warranty, why? Because if you continue pushing such shenanigans on your customers I can assure you won't even be in business in 9 years time, let alone able to honour such warranties, assuming the customer even has the receipt anymore.
Don't shop at Future Shop has always been my policy. They get a comission for every warranty they sell and will try and shove it down your throat. They obviously think that if you bully the customer enough you will buy it.
I am either growing senile or the signs pointing towards the Spy Hill Landfill have been removed. I ended up driving into some godforsaken new housing development. Did the developers have the signs removed?

Yeah, I have actually preferred my trips to Visions and Memory Express because the don't try to make you feel guilty about not going with the extra warranty.
Grinds my gears when companies don't put their holiday hours on their website, or on their automated phone systems.
I called the bank to see what their hours were today, and the voice came on and said "because today is a holiday, we will be closing early and the hours that follow are not correct", then the automated message came on and gave their usual Tuesday hours. When you were recording the message, it didn't occur to you to mention the actual time you will be closing? WTF?

The city's fantastic New Year's planning, offering free transit up to the time that bars close and a normal Tuesday level of "service".
Maybe they are looking to increase the amount of drunk drivers on the road this year.
A plea to all Calgarians:
Please don't drink and drive. There are far too many innocent people out there tonight being responsible for you to kill with your idiotic, selfish, and CRIMINAL decision to drive intoxicated.

I hope someone texts the wrong check stop locations so these idiots can get caught.

Their commission on those warranties must be huge, because Best Buy offered me a brand new PS3 controller for one cent in exchange for taking a 2yr warranty on a new plasma TV. This was after saying no initially...they were super pushy.
Went back and got a refund on the warranty the next day. They didn't ask for the controller back so it worked out well.

The cost of the warrenty is about 25%, so anything more than that is gravy.
back in the day when I worked for Future Shop, I think the pay to the salesperson for the warranty was 30%. Which means it's pretty much all profit. I'd be floored if 15% of the cost of warranty by all purchases was used by warranty claims.
I'm pretty happy I bought the warrenty on my mid 2010 macbook pro.
I've had to replace the power cable 3 or 4 times. Then the HD went so they replaced that and actually had to upgrade me from 250gb to 500gb because they no longer made the 250gb one. I could have had a new battery installed but didn't want to ship my computer away for 1-2 weeks.

I always do the Apple Care too with laptops. Just way too much travelling and moving about with a laptop. My current laptop has had no issues (knock on wood) but I've had instances in the past where having Apple Care spared me a grand or two in hardware.
I have actually heard in that past that Applecare is about the only extended warranty worth buying... but I've still never purchased it. Just such a premium price you end up paying.
