Both Colborne and Baertschi have been useless.
Colborne has no hands and Baertschi has a "Rico Fata" syndrome. Needs to slow down and not try do everything at full speed.

No offense Ashasx, but you are kind of like the Sven Baertschi of CP, you focus only on the one zone, the offensive zone, and are ignoring Colborne's 3 zone play.
Honestly, this will be good for Sven's long term development. He still has things to work on, and besides, many of Sven's fans don't like how Hartley is treating him anyways, so it is better to get Sven away from Bob.

Well, we have very different opinions. I think Colborne has been very responsible, has great ability to break up plays defencively, is able to cycle decently in the offensive zone, has games where he is very effective in the face off dot, and has been used in all situations. Baertschi has flashes of brilliance, but otherwise is completely ineffective. He is learning, and is getting better. Ultimately, I think Baertschi will be the better player. But right now, Colborne is actually playing an effective role on the Flames and Sven is not.

I have no problem with sending Sven down for the right reasons.
But Sven has NOT been bad in his own zone. He is always the first forward back. It's like people just see that one time he missed a check on Hall (who is probably the 2nd fastest player in the league) and forget everything else. The effort has always been there.

But no results. Sven does not play smart. He skates fast etc, but never seems to get anywhere. Effort alone doesn't cut it at the NHL level, time to make plays.

Sven will be back later this season. I think with guys like Stempniak, Stajan, and Cammalleri on the team there's just no room for him until those guys are traded or replaced by the bigger guys that Burke wants.

I still don't think Bob and Sven work well together, so I think it will be better off just to get Sven away from Bob.

Sven's had a so-so season and has shown some progression but his play away from the puck definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Spending some time in the AHL under Troy Ward is a good thing for his development and I suspect he will be back up after the deadline once some contracts get moved out. (Although he will have to earn it.)

how has colborne been useless? He's becoming a strong faceoff guy, is fine in the offensive zone (in my opinion), and generally plays well all over the ice. Sure it would be nice to see more offense from the guy, but i think he's shown that he can handle the NHL game better than baertchi at this stage. That's not a knock on baertchi, but he just hasn't been able to transition his game to the NHL level and a lot of that has to do with the fact that he just isn't strong enough yet.

If they are sending Sven down to the AHL to work on his defensive game, why is Monahan still here? Last time I checked he was fairly weak in his own end as well.

You're right, you are a great evaluator of talent.
What did you have to say about Kris Russell? Oh yeah,this...
"Russell is not very good. He's mediocre defensively, and honestly, his offensive game is not very good either."

I was not the only poster underwhelmed by the Russell acquisition at the time.
Even then, he faces some of the easiest minutes on the team. He's unfortunately going to ask for big money this off-season as well. I think he's somebody we should look to trade to capitalize on his value.

Also can't play in the AHL. Or who knows, maybe he'll be on a bus to Ottawa next week.

He can't finish. Can't pass, doesn't hit, doesn't fight. He is purely a filler. He skates well and is decent on the boards, but besides that he does little to help the team. He lost us our last game by taking a delay of game penalty and then turning over the puck for the second Boston goal.
Agree that he brings more to the team than Sven. But neither should be on an NHL team.
