On another note, McGratten is quite soft spoken on After Hours right now....

Can we finally consider the possibility that Berra might not be the extraordinarily amazing surprise everyone thought he was after his first game.

6 losses in a row...I'd say they are far from exceeding them at this point...for all the laughing we do at the Oilers they are now only 3'points back

Well he chose to fight which means he tried to take care of himself . Not everyone's a fighter and I'm sure Ferrence has quite a bit of an advantage in the weight category

I like Stempniak he is a good player to have on your team great shot, chips in with goals and throws the occasional big hit

You don't risk getting a third man in penalty when the team was playing the way they were and were getting a powerplay at the time. Stempniak wasn't fighting because he knew if he didn't take his gloves off Ference would be sitting in the penalty box. The refs screwed up on that though. That should have been 2 for roughing 2 for instigating 5 for fighting and a 10 minute misconduct. Stempniak only fought back when he had no choice. If the Flames actually capitalize on that PP it wouldn't be an issue.

As for later in the game they need someone to provide some energy midway through the third. Harltey should have put Bouma on and let him try for some energy with a big hit.

I wouldn't be throwing in the towel yet. I still think that Berra can be an every day NHL goaltender. It's a rebuilding year and we can be patient,

Sure, he tried.

..but that's my point. His lack of ability in this area of his game is what reduces his effectiveness. That's all I'm saying.

Almost every publication had them dead last in the NHL. Not saying the coach is good or bad. The roster is so terrible its honestly tough to tell. what other team has 2 totally unproven goal tenders? Zero

The overreaction here is a bit comical. We were supposed to suck and we do.

On another note, mcgratton is awesome. Glad he's a flame.

There aren't many teams I expect the Flames to beat this year. The Oilers have been terrible (worse than the Flames) and should be beatable. They were up 2-0 in the 3rd. They should have won this game fairly easily. It's pretty inexcusable right now.

I agree that the Flames should be able to beat the Oilers this year, especially after being up 2-0 going into the third, but it is pretty indisputable that some here are overreacting quite a bit...

Ferrence picked his victim. He knew Stemp doesn't fight.

The roster is bad that it would be ideal to embrace a more defensive system to prevent giving up such a high number of goals. The goals for has dried up a bit, so they can't outscore their opponents anymore.

This may be tough to acknowledge but the flames are about the same, likely worse than the oilers. That is an insult to the oilers. Year one rebuild folks, we may need to remind ourselves what a rebuild means.

Frustrated, yes, but it is another step required in the rebuild.

don't get me wrong I am pissed about the loss just not surprised...team sucks balls

they can work as hard as they want, talent just isn't there...can't just expect them to outwork a team for 60 mins every game. Poor goal tending and no finish cost them the game. It sucks but oh well nothing to lose sleep over, both teams are so far out of it that is not even funny. Those west standings are crazy, 100 points for a wildcard spot I bet
