Given the West's dominance of the East I could see it taking 100+ points to make it this year. That means they'd need to play .675-.700 hockey starting next game for the next 68, which is basically a President's Trophy level record most years. They're done.
Ya they are basically out unless they the become the Hawks or Sharks all of a sudden.
Eakins is partly to blame as well.........last change and he kept throwing out RNH's line against Kessel? He either has Kessel in his hockey pool or he's given up already and doesn't care. Surely he didn't believe it was a good matchup.
Trouble is, do you put Boyd Gordon out there 23 minutes a game? RNH needs to learn defence, and they have a string of failed development to blame for that
The problem with the Oilers being so terrible is that tomorrow's advantage of playing a team on the second game of a back-to-back is ruined. The Flames probably broke a bigger sweat laughing at the Oilers than the Leafs did playing them.
Kessel's arms will be tired from throwing them in the air so much tonight.

But the Oilers are one of the most physical teams, so the Leafs will be banged up... apparently.
The Oilers are the perfect example of why you don't cheer for losses. What a horrible hockey team.
You are exactly right. Losing became so accepted, almost promoted that they cannot get it out of their DNA now. I truly believe that there is something to this theory.
Somebody phrased our Flames situation perfectly on CP last week. They referred to it as "rebuilding with dignity." I like that.
